The only TRUE neutral site game we have is the SHC in Memphis with Tennessee St.
That game averages 50,000 to 55,000 every year just about.

The past 4 years don't compare at all cause we only averaged 11,000 in 2005 .......... Bell's last year.
Last year under Comegy, that jumped to 20,000.
It will increase this comming year.

In 2002 under Hughes and on back, our home average hovered around the 29,000 to 33,000 range.

Alcorn is our "Hated Rival" and the game is played in Jackson every year with the school's rotating the "HOME" tag because Alcorn's stadium only seat's 25,000
.
That game get's 40,000, (NON-BELL YEARS), and up every year.
Even with JSU losing 7 and 8 games per year under Bell, the Alcorn game still drew close to 30,000 each year.

If you've ever seen where SPC is playing, you'd understand.

St. Peter's has no on campus field of any kind--the entire school is only 16 acres in Jersey City. Instead, they share time at Cochrane Stadium, which they must often play on Fridays because high school teams get it on Saturday. at a field which is literally in the swamps. (Georgetown once had to play SPC at 4:00 pm on a Friday afternoon.)

Here are the directions to the field from the SPC web site--with everything going on in NYC, would you want to be there on a Friday night?

"Immediately after going under an overpass, you will come to a traffic light. Turn right at the traffic light...You will be on a road in an undeveloped area. Approximately 1 mile after turning at the traffic light, you will be at the intersectionof Caven Point Road and Chapel Avenue. Turn left onto Chapel Avenue, which is marked with a yellow "No Outlet" sign."

No great attendance numbers anywhere in the state of NH. However, an interesting fact is that decrepit ole Cowell Stadium on the UNH campus has an official capacity of 6,500 fans. On a "per game" average, 1,641 more fans than seats available..... Imagine if Santos and Ball & Co. actually had an inviting venue (hint,hint NH legislature) in which to have played the last 3 years? :confused:

As interesting (or, is it worse?) is that the Whittemore Center where nationally ranked hockey team plays also seats around 6,500 fans!

No, it's because the number 1 average attendance in DII was never more than 12-13,000 or so, which was usually what we got. Our average attendance has actually increased by over 50 percent since 2002.

Our averages over the past five years were:

2002 - 10,620 (I think we weren't #1 in DII that year)
2003 - 11,567 (#1 in DII)
2004 - 13,269 (Top-15 in I-AA)
2005 - 14,160 (Top-15 in I-AA)
2006 - 16,377 (#7 in FCS)

Something to note here, and this isn't an excuse (personally I'm disappointed that Lehigh didn't crack 10,000), but think about the number of college football teams that are competing for fans. If you draw a 2-hour radius around Lehigh, you'd probably get a dozen Pennsylvania schools alone... not to mention Delaware, Princeton, Rutgers, and other New Jersey schools.

You missed Geneva College in Beaver Falls - I think the northeasternmost NAIA football school. Drew just over 700 per game, so St. Francis moves off the bottom.

Also missed D-II Shippensburg, about 3,800 pg.

For the record it poured at every single one of our games.
I went to all but one and I couldn't fricken believe it....it did not just rain it poured...and it was cold.:mad:

Maine's recent mediocrity has resulted in a net loss of about 3,000 fans/game from 4 or 5 years ago. There's no reason that Maine can't average 8,000.......if they are winning. :(

No need..........They got a heck of a fan base.

I think we have had 1 sellout with SU.
The next largest SU crowd for that game drew 58,000 my soph. year and the majority of the SU matchups clock in around the 50,000 range.

During good times, and now that Bell's gone and the program is on the turnaround, expect the SU and Alcorn matchups to hover around 50,000 from now on.
Valley will be about 40,000 and Gram in the 30's now that the excitement is back.

Homecomming will be in that range also.
It's comming back faster than people expected around here.
These people quit going to games because they HATED BELL just that much.

The next largest SU crowd for that game drew 58,000 my soph. year and the majority of the SU matchups clock in around the 50,000 range.

During good times, and now that Bell's gone and the program is on the turnaround, expect the SU and Alcorn matchups to hover around 50,000 from now on.
Valley will be about 40,000 and Gram in the 30's now that the excitement is back.

Homecomming will be in that range also.
It's comming back faster than people expected around here.
These people quit going to games because they HATED BELL just that much.

Cortland draws that many because of 1 game. The Cortland-Ithaca game was at Cortland this year. Look at all their home games:

Average without Ithaca game: 2206.

The CortIca Jug game alternates every year. Next year Ithaca's attendance will be jacked up. Its a great rivalry.

Buffalo has to be inflated, I worked in China with a Buffalo alum, and she said you'd be lucky to get 5-8k in there. Of course, she was more interested in Chinese than football, but i believe her.

Well, they're all very small schools, St. Francis has had only 2 winning seasons in 29 years of FB in the modern era, LaSalle only 2 in the nine years they've had football.

All are in cities with a FBS college (SFUPA about an hour from Penn St.), and RMU, DU and LaSalle also are in cities with NFL teams, so it's tough to get any local press.

Well, some of these D-II schools are a lot bigger than a lot of FCS schools. Keep in mind schools like Lehigh and Delaware were D-II schools through most of the 1970's and still drew significant numbers. Changing classifications doesn't have any direct correlation to attendance...

Actually, Temple had a couple games that did have over 20,000 in attendance this year. How many were full pay tickets, I don't know, but they did have a couple games with some 'big name' teams at the Linc. that probably were responsible for the 'higher' numbers...Filet of Sole isn't bad, though...;)

No great attendance numbers anywhere in the state of NH. However, an interesting fact is that decrepit ole Cowell Stadium on the UNH campus has an official capacity of 6,500 fans. On a "per game" average, 1,641 more fans than seats available..... Imagine if Santos and Ball & Co. actually had an inviting venue (hint,hint NH legislature) in which to have played the last 3 years? :confused:

As interesting (or, is it worse?) is that the Whittemore Center where nationally ranked hockey team plays also seats around 6,500 fans!

If don't count the 1372 from the Hofstra game that was played in a typhoon the average is very close to 10,000/game.

Attendance at The Game last season was 30,723. Without Yale on the home schedule, replace that with a more normal Harvard attendance of 10,000 and you get an average of 11,403, just behind UMass.

However, UMass does need to do better considering the caliber of the program we have right now.
