Here are the rules;
1. Games must be picked 30 minutes before kick off of the FIRST game.
2. Playoffs will count but I haven't figured out the rules yet.
3. 1 point per game picked correctly.
4. If you change a pick before the deadline of one game but after the deadline of another game quote your previous post so that way I can verify that you didn't change other games.
5. You will win exactly nothing...Except a larger ego:D
6. Please make it easier for me and use the school name, abbreviation or mascot (i.e. NDSU, North Dakota State University or Bison).
7. If you miss 3 weeks I will not be counting your score.

Beat POD... Wasn't he dead last in some game last year :DI finished in last place last year, I had a pretty good year, helped guide the NDSU Bison to another MVFC title, among other things, if I have a good record in these things it means the mojo is gone.

Missouri St at Youngstown St - YSU at least salvages a winning season
Southern Illinois at Western Illinois - One team is motivated, the other isn't.... WIU wins big.
South Dakota St at South Dakota - My head says that USD's porous defense can't stop SDSU but my gut says USD has their backs against the wall at home in a rivalry game with the probable Payton winner under center so they find a way to eek out the upset.
Indiana St at Northern Iowa - By mucho points.
North Dakota St at Illinois St - This will be a low scoring affair I think and with their backs against the wall and at home the Redbirds put a good scare into the Bison but fall just short.

Southern Illinois at Western Illinois - Leathernecks take this one by at least 2 TD's.
South Dakota State at South Dakota - The slide continues for USD.
Indiana State at Northern Iowa - It's UNI time. This one gets you in the playoffs.
North Dakota State at Illinois State - my flier game. With the weather and desperation, ISUr plays desperate. NDSU keeps it vanilla to avoid more injuries in the rain and wind. The team that takes advantage of the wind and controls the LOS wins.

Been wrong on my picks for the Birds for most of this season, and I hope this ISU/NDSU game I finally get it right. It's been a terrific season watching all the Valley action on ESPN3, and IMHO think the MVFC is at a full head of steam heading into the playoffs. Looking forward to catching all the action this Saturday across the wild-and-wooly Valley....YES!! :)

Missouri State @ Youngstown State-The Penguins are trying to get to a winning season, and the Bears have played well in recent weeks. Penguins win a close one, 24-20.
Southern Illinois @ Western Illinois-WIU is the much better team and are playing for a possible seed, but SIU always plays Western tough. Leathernecks pull away late 41-10.
South Dakota State @ South Dakota-USD might be playing for their playoff lives and SDSU is playing for a seed. Game of the week to me. SDSU 34-23
Indiana State @ Northern Iowa-The Sycamores just want to start focusing on 2018. Panthers win it easy and make the playoffs. UNI 42-3
North Dakota State @ Illinois State-It depends on which Easton Stick shows up, and which ISUr shows up. The Bison have a better defense than ISUr and win. NDSU 23-10.

I am taking the Coyotes to win the rivalry game. The Coyotes haven't been playing well but they have lost all their games on the road. This team is simply a much better team at home than they are away and people that don't follow the team just don't understand that. The Coyotes almost beat the Jacks at home when they were a bad football team and now that they are decent this year they should be even tougher to beat at home. When it becomes a highly charged environment the unit that benefits from that the most is the home defense and that is the unit that will thrive off the crowd. I am not guaranteeing a win by any means but people are jumping on the Jacks bandwagon for this game way too quickly IMO. I believe just like NDSU did at home to USD, and SDSU did at home to NDSU is what USD will do to the Jacks. 49-31 Coyotes in this one. They will simply want the game more.

In a contest like this, sometimes you have to pick the games that you think have the potential to be upsets in the hope that you can gain a bit of ground on the top spot. What I actually think will happen can be found in my MVFC Week 12 Preview article (http://thefcswedge.com/mvfc/mvfc-week-12-preview-2/).

Do I think Illinois State will beat NDSU or Missouri State will beat YSU?....no....probably not. But I think the chances of those are better than Indiana State pulling off an upset against UNI, and I can't pick against my Leathernecks unless we're severely outmatched. I think the Dakota del Sur game is a bit too close to call (although I did make a pick for it and made a prediction for it in my article), but people could be split on that one.

So really...it's not really drinking the ILSU or MSU kool-aid...it's just trying to pick strategically to get closer to the lead before the playoffs hit and the # of MVFC games starts to drop week-to-week.

I did pick USD to pull the upset but I think you're discounting who USD has played at home in MVFC play; YSU, ISUb, and SIU. Those teams are a combined 5-16 in MVFC play. The teams they've played on the road are 19-9 in MVFC play. USD plays better at home like most teams do but I think you're oversimplifying it by saying this is just a Jeckyl and Hyde scenario at home vs on the road for USD. SDSU will be the best visiting team to play USD so far this year.

Missouri State at Youngstown State .. not so sure about this one, though have to believe YSU will do everything they can to go 6-5. And I still say they should be on bubble .. though not get a spot.

Southern Illinois at Western Illinois ... should be fairly easy win

South Dakota State...at South Dakota .. feel like their suspensions will cost them this game, and possibly playoffs. But if they lose close game, they deserve to be in, period. If not close, they're on bubble.

Indiana State at Northern Iowa .. this should be over by half.

North Dakota State at Illinois State ... weather makes this game more unpredictable than my Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde Redbirds. But do believe Dr Jeckyl will show up today. Look for Kolbe-Broadnax QB combo today .. our key on offense will be to be able to mix things up, even while running 75% of time given weather conditions.

If USD wins and we win, we need the Committee to select 6 MVFC teams for us to be sure we get in. My view is MVFC 2017 is deeper 1 thru 7 than MVFC 2014, and clearly deserves 6 teams this year.
