Well Duke lost again today, this time to Maryland in College Park. The Blue Devils have now lost 4 in a row and the schedule doesn't get much easier. They're at BC next who's been playing really well, then G Tech home, at Clemson, at St. John's, home against Maryland and finish up at UNC. With the way the're playing they could easily go 2-4 or maybe even 1-5 in those 6 games, St. John's seems like the only "lock" win. I'd love it if Duke missed the tourney for the first time in 13 years. However the name on the front of their jersey will almost guarantee them a bid even if they have a losing record in the ACC and be playing non-tourney worthy ball heading into March. At the end of the day it doesn't matter though as i am 110% positive that Coach K will never win another national title at Duke.

they could easily go 1-5 in there last 6 games leaving them at 19-12 they would probably need to get to the ACC Championship game under those circumstances to get a tourney bid.

If they finish the regular season 19-12, they'll get in regardless of their ACC Tournament performance. They might be seeded around 8-10, but they'll get in.
If that happens, they'd play a 1 or 2 seed in the second round which would be an interesting matchup. I wouldn't want to be that 1 or 2 seed.

No way Duke gets a 8-10 seeding. No worse than a 6. No way Duke gets a 8-16 seeding. That's too unfair to the team they match up against. Duke will be the favorite in the seedings, but get a tough opponent. Davidson, Hofstra, VCU, ODU. A game that screams "upset" but only looking at the seedings.

If Duke finishes the season 2-8/3-7, they should NOT get into the tourney, and if they do, it SHOULD be a 10-11 seed. But knowing how the NCAA kisses Dook's ass, they'd probably end up a #3 or #4 seed, at a site close to Durham, and with a "weak" #1/#2 seed in the same bracket.

currently the ESPN bracketology has dook at an 8 seed and falling. while maryland is at an 11 seed. Even if goes 2-4, it all depends, one of those wins could come against UNC and that would look awful nice. i hope they never win another game.

I would laugh so hard I would have several strokes.xlolx
Duke need to make the tournament just to save JSTATE83 from that hardship. xlolx
But ...................Ya'll know Duke could loose 2 more and make the field of 64.

The NCAA needs and wants Duke in there, so the comission will find a way.

Here's a scenario...say that Duke does finish the regular season with 19 wins, which would probably result in a NCAA bid (like it or not). But what if they lose in the first round of the ACC tourney as well???

I still get sick thinking about the Dook/Arizona title game.
Worst officiated game I have ever seen in any sport.

Anybody else think that Johnny Dawkins is getting ready to be called in to k's office. It's about time for another back spasm. Hey Johnny, you might want to call Pete Gaudet and ask him how things worked out for him.

Coach K turns 60 years old ironically enough today, born on February 13, 1947. I just think his better days are behind him and other programs have been able to catch up and surpass what Duke was able to do in the 1990's. He was able to keep kids there for all 4 years but since 1998 or '99 a number of players have left Duke early for the NBA. I think that has had a profound effect on his and the programs ability to succeed, his recipe for success took it hit. Kids can go play else where now and get the same notoriety they would play at Duke. I just think Krzyzewski is following the same path as Denny Crum and Bobby Knight. Their success came in bunches but when their recipe for success eventually became dated.

Ya'll know DUKE is in.xlolx
The only thing that people can be happy about is the fact that DUKE, for the 1st time, will not play in their HOME Region which has basically been home games for them in the past tournaments.
They gotta hit the road with probably a 5th or 6th seed.
That's about as good as it will get for DUKE haters like myself.xlolx
