If Maine goes 6-4.. do they make it?

If Maine wins their last two games, they'd have a weak FBS victory (UMass) and a win over a possible at-large playoff contender (Stony Brook). They'd have only 6 wins. However, they don't have 11 games only because their game vs. UCF was cancelled.

If you ignore what would have been a very likely loss vs. UCF, they'd have a "bad loss" (Villanova) but they'd have some quality there with the UMass win and the Stony Brook win achieved very late. Do they get consideration?

If a 6 win team (non-AQ) makes the field this year, then we need to go back to just 16 teams and eliminate the AQ and seed the entire field.

I expect there will be multiple 4 loss teams in. UNI for one. Eastern Washington is still in the discussion. Potentially Charleston Southern. Western Carolina, albeit they have 12 games (and assuming they lose to UNC)

Sincerely doubt it. That could be one of the better bubble wins, but it's a strong bubble and the rest of UNH's schedule was pretty weak. I mean, just for instance, Elon would probably finish with the same record as Montana, who EWU beat, but EWU also beat two teams probably better than Maine and Georgia Southern.

It might matter more depending on what happens to Richmond and Delaware, too. I wouldn't feel very confident at 7-4, though, particularly since Albany looks like it would be a bad loss [to add to Holy Cross's bad loss, who could play spoiler and beat Lehigh and get to 5-6, which wouldn't be quite as bad as it was before].

Of course it depends on the final outcome of a lot of other teams, but I'd say it was likely, not certain, that UNH would get selected with a 7-4 record IF the final win was against Elon and the loss was Albany. Highly unlikely if we lose to Elon but beat Albany.

With the OL that returned, the good receivers, the very good RB and a good defense, the coaches ought to be embarrassed they are not in playoffs.
