Vermillion PD has charged USD football's Danny Rambo and Dale Williamson with 2nd degree rape and attempted 2nd degree rape, respectively.

Danny Rambo is third in tackles and a starting cornerback.

Dale Williamson is a backup CB on the two deep.

I thought I saw that the other starting CB was also suspended for the SIU game - but maybe it isn't related to this situation.

In either case, they'll get their day in court so I'll reserve judgement until then......

So, obviously innocent of any crime until proven guilty.

But most likely...guilty as hell, of being stupid idiots who lack any situational awareness or judgment about how their actions will affect them. Best not to put yourself in a situation where things like this can occur...whether these accusations are true or false.

This quote from the GoYotes message board sums up my thoughts on this:

"A warrant was issued and they did as they should have, turned themselves in. I don't have an opinion either way other than to say God be with the girl(s) if anything is true and on the flip side, the boys shouldn't have placed themselves anywhere near a situation that this could ever come up. Everybody is in my prayers and God will take care of things."

Stuff like this just isn't going to be tolerated at USD, whether guilty or innocent IMO I think we've seen the last of these two players in Coyote Red. If they are guilty, obviously they'll be in prison. If they are innocent, just putting yourself in this situation and the negative reflection on the program, I believe is enough for their careers here to be over. There is just zero tolerance for this type of stuff.

"How their actions will affect them"??? I'm hoping you didn't intend it to sound like that, the more critical lacking component is thinking about how their actions will affect their victims. I for one don't give a ***** if criminals want to harm or kill themselves.

I wasn't talking about the crime aspect. Why would you think that? I guess you missed my point. Besides, there is no victim until convicted. And, as the actual story was not put out yet when I wrote that, I only had the charge and not the details. You don't need to read things into a simple statement directed towards the ill thinking youths who were probably never taught very well. I am talking about ANY ACTION DONE BY IDIOTS WHICH THEY GAVE NO THOUGHT TO BEFOREHAND. Be that drinking irresponsibly to speeding to hanging around drug users. YOU DON'T PUT YOURSELF IN BAD SITUATIONS WHERE WORSE THINGS CAN HAPPEN. How much you want to bet alcohol or drugs were involved. I know, its what kids do. Been there, done it. Didn't realize I had to spell all this out. Maybe that is part of our society's problem.

I wasn't even referring to these guys specifically, just predators in general. They may very well be innocent. Our society has many problems and the one in particular I'm touching on is the pervasiveness of "I shouldn't commit this crime because I might get caught/in trouble" versus "I shouldn't commit this crime because it's wrong to harm another person". Goes for everyone- athletes, coaches, CEOs, movie producers, politicians, whatever.

Either way, definitely too many decades of this type of student athlete culture where many think they can do what they want to who they want. Which in turn is fostered by administration/coaches/boosters/corporations/etc turning 18 year olds into gods. Baylor, Louisville, Minnesota, and so on. They won't be the last, let's just hope it becomes the exception.

We are on the same page. The one bright spot was the program's response...so far. Hope they do what is right as this plays out.

Well, that's true.

Does it help the case if ISUr's basketball program is known to take players kicked off of other programs for various types of assault and sexual assault?

Whoa.....time out here. With how prevalent false rape accusations are today, I'd pump the brakes there a bit. I'm not saying that's the case here, but you can't necessarily take every claim at face value. That's how we end up jailing innocent people.

What I find interesting is how similar this case is to other cases involving athletes (I doubt it is athlete specific, it's just that we don't hear much about non-athlete events):
1) Dude has consensual sex with a woman.
2) Dude invites his friends to dirty seconds without woman's consent.
3) Bad things happen.
Have things changed that much since I was in school?

Do you have a specific player in mind when speaking of "sexual assault". I'm aware of domestic violence, but not sexual assault. Please elaborate.

I guess between the Allen kid who never played at Indiana State, the kid at Missouri State who broke a dog's jaw, the two kids at USD, Bo's project in Youngstown, and if you go back as far as Coprich the MVFC has had it's share of black eyes lately. I'm sure that's just the tip of the iceberg and what managed to make the court blotter, surely some things have flown well below the radar.

Depends on where you went to school?

But I get your point, a lot of people automatically default to defaming a kid, or victim shaming the woman. There are always shades of gray in both sides of the story.

I knew a girl in college who did #1, then because she was drunk had #2 happen to her, which resulted in #3. She went to the police and hospital, all her friends were urging her to file a report and have the guys arrested.
Only problem was her proclivity to engage in group "fun" and video tape it. No doubt about it, she was a victim of sexual assault, but she didn't want to risk her "good girl, Sorority image" by having it come to light that she liked the camera and group relations.

In short, times have not changed. Asked the kid from the Stanford swim team.

Its got nothing to do with jailing anyone.
It has everything to do with the no victim without conviction statement.

Here is the thing right now there is a victim. Is it the girl or is it the two guys we don't know yet, and may never know the real story. If they assaulted her they deserve to get prison time. If she is lying about it she also deserves prison time. The fact of the matter is there is a victim here we just don't know what side it is on right now.

Congrats! This is the dumbest thing I have ever read on AGS!

It is not my fault you have a mediocre understanding of logic or the law. Guess what Einstein, if the alleged victim actually made it up, then who is the victim? And we all know that that had never happened right? Not saying it did in this case, but until the law convicts, then it "may" be in doubt. Go back into your dimwit hole. I would ask your college to refund you some of your money back. They let you down.

These situations are like pancakes, no matter how flat you press it, it will always have two sides. You have the player's side and the girl's side and the truth is somewhere in the middle.....not saying 50/50, maybe 99.99%/0.01%....but somewhere in the middle. However, there are no winners in this...lives are ruined regardless of where the truth lies.

If the story went as stated in that article I believe all 3 should be charged with something. I know it was consensual with Harris, but if he did nothing he is an accomplice and should be just as liable as the other two. It was good to hear all 3 were suspended though.
