NDSU coaches need to tell Stick to look at 1 read and then run.

There is a lot of game left.

Run a few of those to get the box stacked, and then take that TE seam route for 15-20 and repeat.

I know Dewey and I are in the cities, so maybe that is causing it? It sucks that streaming is usually 30 seconds or so behind, but if we are 1 minute, that would be a little surprising.

Didn't learn from Bohl. Bohl would've tried a trick play or two by now. Coach K is a good coach just not aggressive enough. He has gotten even more risk averse this year. Almost like he is taking lessons from Farley.

NDSU will gain momentum in the second half, UNI's luck will run out, possibly exacerbated by a key injury or two.
As has been the case in many UNI/NDSU games.

Meh, disagree there. We don’t need trick plays, we need the Offensive Line to figure out how to block Reth and co. Hopefully they get that figured out at halftime

The key for NDSU is the running game. If they don't get that going they are in trouble. UNI needs to protect against the blitz otherwise more TOs like the pick and fumble.

As long as Dunn is out and Bruuuuuce is the featured back, we are not looking good. Dunn gives us that explosion and Bruuuuuuuce gives us that A-Gap power run to gas defenses and bully them around. With Brooks still banged up, the run game is going to be near non-existent IMO.

Is he not seeing the high safety come down in the box? Why not hard count and see the pre-pressure and change the play? I know it has been suggested, but I don't know why he has yet to try it?

So NDSU held UNI to 157 total yards with only 48 of them being from rushing.

I'll take holding them to 37 carries for 48 yards any day of the week. This defense is lights out and even with Cox being out, I'd take this defense over any offense in the FCS.

Sucks that he will be out to start the Dakota Marker game though. That could be huge.

That could be huge.Keep your powder, we play the two best offenses, maybe in the country, back to back, the next two weeks. I understand that the QB for USD is hurt and don't know the extent of that injury.

Sounds like he is fine as he was warming up in the 2nd half, but due to the score, they kept him out of the game as a precaution. That said, I am a firm believer in this defense, but not necessarily this offense and/or ST. If they can keep the ball moving and Dunn is healthy, I trust that defense to hold SDSU and USeD to 23 points or less.

After some reflection NDSU probably wins it all again this year. That defense is stout. Now UNI's offense is so so, but a lot of how bad we looked was the NDSU defense.

Well, that was fun.

In typical NDSU vs. UNI fashion, both defenses took turns swinging sledgehammers to their opposing O's...NDSU scored a few more points than I anticipated (figured a 24ish to 17ish type of game).

NDSU's next 3 opponents won today with scores of 42, 52, and 32....gonna be interesting.

Bison D looks stupid good...Deluca is a monster...Cox is a freak....DL is eating.

Getting five turnovers helped the Bison get their 30 Points. Take away points off turnovers on both sides and you are looking at a maybe 17-7 final score....I agree about our defense, they are playing ...yup...stupid good!

Back from the game and it was a great effort by the defense.

- DeLuca is a total beast. Jordheim with 3 fumble recoveries.

- DL is talented and deep. They were in the backfield a lot today. Not sure on the sack total but must have been a good total.

- Stick looked lost and hesitant at times. Maybe UNI game him some different looks but many of his passes were not good ones. Missed a wide open BA that would have been a touchdown.

- Kudos to the total defensive effort. UNI barely had 100 yards of offense when they went into prevent mode the last 2 UNI drives.

- Bison kicking game needs some work.

All in all a very good win. On to reclaim the Marker.

Yeah it's nuts what we'd look like up front. The D line has been balling, and Caleb Butler is one name I don't think mentioned enough. Kids motor is in top gear every second he's on the field.

Saw Menard during the warm ups and looked good walking around. No brace on. He'll be 110% next year. Lose Tanguay and Morgan at DTs next year but there are some beasts coming up to replace them. Alo, Biegler, Darnell and Tucker are young guys that haven't seen the field but are really good. Not to forget about Steidl and Williams that are beasts right now. DT and DE is loaded.

Hadn't noticed that but looking at the participation report on GoBison you're right. Looks like he started the ISUb game also. Looks like he's been starting in place of Jones but they've still had a healthy rotation since I've seen Jones out there a bunch also.

Shocking that KVLY hasn't updated their starting lineup graphic yet. xrolleyesx

UNI's yards:

48 rushing yards
109 passing yardsYea, and they got about 50 of those yards in garbage time, this was the best performance for the Bison D against a quality opponent I have seen in a while but the real tests are coming up in the next three games. Teams that can throw the ball effectively can hurt NDSU, I am never really worried about an opponent of the Bison that needs to run the ball, because teams rarely have success with that against the NDSU program but teams that throw it around have had success.

If we can't get pressure against SDSU with 4 guys, we are going to have problems.

Have DeLuca spy TC the 1st half and Cox spy him the 2nd half. Expect to see plenty of Nickel packages and Jordheim/Planck rotating in and out to keep each other fresh.

I hope it is cold as hell and wet next Saturday because the last time I saw the Jacks play in bad weather, it didn't appear that they wanted any part of it. Their QB was curled up in the fetal position and checking his watch most of the game.

It would be a YUGE advantage if the weather was awful. The Bison will just pound the ball and hopefully Dunn comes back next week. I don't see it turning out as well as it should if Anderson and Brooks are the featured backs as it would if it was Dunn and Anderson. If Stick plays the way he did yesterday next week, this might come down to who has the ball last.

Probably will see some hurry up offense or no huddle from SDSU to keep NDSU from subbing. NDSU did a great job in the playoff game last year defending them, another effort like that will be needed.

Anderson/Brooks is a good combination. Power back and a change of pace guy. I have no worries with those two.

It's no Dunn and Anderson though. Brooks is still banged up from what I have been hearing and he lacks the necessary experience out there for this kind of a game that Lance Dunn has. When Dunn is in the backfield, teams have to account for 2 elusive runners in Stick and Dunn as well as RJ and Shep. When Anderson is back there, they only have to worry about Stick breaking containment as Anderson is usually a Tackle runner.

That's not to say I am not happy with Anderson and Brooks, since I am, but given my choice, I would choose Dunn and Anderson.

WIU actually has been more efficient passing the ball this year than SDSU has been (and that's including WIU's game where they got shut down against NDSU): http://www.valley-football.org/stats.aspx?path=football&year=2017

I think SDSU is more talented offensively but this Bison defense is playing otherworldly right now... hopefully they can keep it up.

He might be, but there are a couple of guys on the team I know and they said there is still something lingering but would not say to what extent. If Dunn can't go on Saturday, hopefully they and I are wrong and he is back to full health but he just seemed timid when running on Saturday on a few plays. Could be from playing his 1st game back in awhile or something else. We have known Klieman to do Coach speak when it comes to players in important games (Carson Wentz and the National Championship is a prime example).

I get that the stats seem close but SDSU seems light years ahead of WIU offensively, you get past Acklin for WIU and there isn't much there.

I agree that NDSU is playing out of their minds on D and I hope they can keep it up. I think TC is soft as a QB, if he gets the half the beating that Dunne got that past Saturday, it will be over quickly.

I suggest everyone go back and watch Ty’s TD. The acceleration he showed off the right side was just silly and should eliminate any doubt. Ty will play a big part in the offense next Saturday as I question if the SDSU defense is athletic enough to catch him. IMO this is the perfect matchup for an RB like Ty.

This here and I agree completely.

I bet Ty has a huge game. He is a different type of RB compared to Bruce and Lance. He has been hurt a lot so teams have not seen much of him on tape. He is fast and is the kind of back that will cause SDSU's defense problems.
