We would struggle with most teams in the top 10. With some teams, we have the O to stay in the game and compete with. But when we face a good defense, we're toast. I think we have a shot to make it to the semis, but I can't see us getting past that. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we lost in the quarterfinals.

Honestly, I still don't know if we even get a bye. I think the committee might give us one, but we aren't deserving of anything higher than 7.

Lucky for them, all of the teams in front of them and around them were upset, so I may have to just overlook the fact that they beat the CAA's worst team by 1 point (the difference being a missed PAT), the fact that they let that team drop 34 on them in meaningful time. URI was even in game winning FG range but turned it over at the 17 yard line with 34 seconds remaining. KICK THE FIELD GOAL JIM FLEMING! I would put a slightly different twist on game offensively. Given our obvious OL and WR issues, Kobe was asked to manage this game and limit negative plays .. which he did. His one pick was an easy drop by our WR who had 2 hands on ball right to him .. in all, we had 4 easy drops, or Kolbe would have finished 16 of 19 for 280 yards with 2 TDs no picks ... instead he was 12 of 19 for 236 yards, 2 TDs and a Pick. Given the prior 2 weeks issues with run game, yesterday was back to basics with focus on run game .. Kolbe did everything he could have done yesterday after 2 bad games.

That said, he still has some proving to do .. which I think is your main point. But yesterday was a big step back in right direction for Kolbe and a team in free fall .. and did it playing a top 4 team in country. But yes, jury is still out at this point. The Gauntlet that is MVFC continues .. away at YSU, home against WIU, away at SDSU, home against NDSU.

Unreported stat of game yesterday was this ... defensively, we had 15 QBHs, after which I'm betting we hit Streveler hard on most of them. That kid is tough .. we chased him all game, and hit him hard many times. Only got 2 sacks, but had at least 6 other sacks he slipped out of and held him to 26 net yards rushing ... 22 on one play. He is heart and soul of that offense. I don't know of any other FCS QB who would have survived that game yesterday and threw like he threw .. running for his life all game and never saw him frustrated, just hobbled .. but he just kept getting back up ... Lot of respect for Streveler .. tough as hell.
