Missouri State got a very good player in Kingjack (KJ) Washington. If he was bigger he would have been a "big-time" recruit.

It might be a homer statement, but I believe MSU had the best class in the Gateway and one of the best in all the FCS. Most schools seem to steal 3 or 4 recruits from FBS teams, we took 8.

Don't forget, we play in the Gateway Conference, Valley football is no more. Also we signed 8 players with FBS scholarship offers, only 3 of them had BCS scholarship offers.

I would add that NDSU had a heck of a nice looking group of recruits.....maybe that will add to the strength of the Gateway in the near future.....

Who are the players that had FBS offers? I know both Wacker and Hankins had their offers from Tulsa pulled after the new coaching staff took over.

On a side note, Hankins is a creampuff. He needs to hit the weights.....big time.

Here are the players that I know had scholarship offers...

1. Nolan Hankins (Tulsa, Maryland, UCF, Ark. St.)
2. Jarryd Horn (Tulsa, Col. State)
3. Stephen Johnston (Air Force, Army, Navy, Purdue, Wyoming)
4. Casey LaBrue (Rice)
5. Brandon Oliver (Houston, Indiana, Wyoming, Wash. State)
6. Kingjack Washington (Tulsa)

I'm almost positive (in fact, scout.com confirms) that Tulsa didn't offer Washington or Horn. Hankins offer was pulled as stated above, but he was offered by other FBS schools.

I must say this: most of those guys for YSU had at least SOME interest from the MAC Schools.. Take that as you may.

UNI goes after Iowa kids. They are rarely highly rated from rivals or whatever, but our teams speak for themselves. I am confident we will have a great team out on the field next season!

John Shaw is the 10th all time leading rusher in the HISTORY of PHILADELPHIA high school football. He called Farley and said he wanted to be a Panther. I have seen video, he's a stud...

Another funny note about Scouts or Rivals, Eilert from UNI had originally committed to Iowa State, when he changed his mind to UNI, Rivals and Scouts changed him from a 3 Star to a 2 Star. Its amazing how his football ability got worse in January

I like UNI's class. Hopefully as good as the one from 2005

Best get your cheering in now. Those "stars" don't mean crap. MSU has for years taken "rated" players, gone heavy on Jucos and transfers, brought in huge classes and has nothing to show for it.

Dollars to donuts, the YSU list will prove far superior over the next few years, even with "less" stars. Where your recruits come from, the caliber of competition, speed, etc. play a huge role. High school FB just isn't the same everywhere and the "star" ratings never are a true reflection of that. Lots of those "2 stars" are still waiting for an offer, lol !!

Recruiting/ signing time -- a time for great hilarity !! xlolx

I don't know so much about us having "always" taken rated players, at least not a handful like we have this year. And yes, Randy Ball tried to get the program rolling with juco and I-A transfers. That was a big reason we never saw results from him. TA is investing into the program by signing mostly high schoolers and redshirting most of them.

Ok, Missouri State has a 40 stars recruiting class and NDSU has 2 stars. I don't think your President should be worried about NDSU joining the Gateway with these type of numbers.

Hehe, I was going to post the same thing as Go Bison, but without the shot at Missouri State's President.

Rivals- 1/2 stars (Johnson)
Scout- 3/3 stars (Veldman, Voigtlander, Thomas)
Total- 4/5 stars

But you gotta take these things with a grain of salt. Last year, NDSU signed North Dakota's player of the year who rushed for 2000+ yards, had 100+ tackles, 10 interceptions, and returned kickoffs for TDs his senior year... he also won the 200 and was runner-up in the 100 at the state track meet. A little bit over 6'2 and 205 lbs with a frame to grow on... also an excellent basketball player. He didn't even rate a mention from rivals, much less a star.

That was our AD who made the comments.
