Nice work! I'd say the Payton award is Chris Streveler's to lose right now.

As much as I love what Jaelon Acklin is doing these days, I have to agree with you. Streveler's impact on USD's offense is just insane.

Hard to argue against a guy leading a top 3 team and accounting for 69.37% of the entire offense and 64.10% of the TDs.

He is the leader in each of the categories for his team when it comes to rushing:

-Rushing Yds
-Rushing Yds per game
-Most rushing TDs

The guy is literally carrying the team on his back. If anything were to happen to him, USeD would lose almost 70% of their offense and those numbers are just not replaceable with what they have.

I've been calling them that for awhile, but yes, Thumper is a solid man and fun to go out for drinks with or just chill and talk to.


Yea, Simmons is pretty decent, but he's no Streveler.

If Streveler goes down, there will be drop off. One does not just replace 70% of their offense overnight. When UNI lost DJ and Carnes, they lost something like 98% of their offense iirc. (I believe that was a Clenz stat) They had a drop off for a few games of the next season until Smith and Bailey could figure out what they were doing and it significantly hurt them as they went 2-4 to start the season but then crushed it until they ran into NDSU in the playoffs and Farley went all Farley on himself.

If Streveler goes down, there will be drop off. One does not just replace 70% of their offense overnight. When UNI lost DJ and Carnes, they lost something like 98% of their offense iirc. (I believe that was a Clenz stat) They had a drop off for a few games of the next season until Smith and Bailey could figure out what they were doing and it significantly hurt them as they went 2-4 to start the season but then crushed it until they ran into NDSU in the playoffs and Farley went all Farley on himself.

Obviously there will be a drop off if anyone loses their starting QB. My point is we have a competent backup with some experience. Hopefully we won't have to find out.

25/49 for 358, 2 TDs (would have had 3 and probably won the game if not for a terrible drop by a wide open receiver) and 1INT. Shame his defense couldn't have helped him out a little more.xlolx

Gabrud was very good at UM, and absolutely terrific in the second half. All facets of the game. The Griz players and coaches compared him favorably to the UW/Husky qb. Gabrud was way better than I had realized he was.

Two Griz defensive players. Schye, the DE, is very good and having a very good season. Buss, an outside backer, is a super good player, and has terrific speed. The corner, McKinley, is a very good player

All three of your defenders are good. I expect to put Buss on this list next year. Schye needs a couple more good games and I'll add him. I think McKinley is your best prospect among your seniors and Buss will be your top guy next year.

2 INTs through the first 5 games...then Saturday happened. He telegraphed with his eyes and directed with his hands a sideline pass and the defender jumped the route. Then he attempted to throw one away out the back of the end zone and it just wasn't quite high enough and was picked off for a touchback. Finally he threw to the flats but it was tipped, went straight up in the air but still went 10 yards up the field and was picked off and returned 10+ yards by SFA. NOT a good night for HH. But every QB has those. Honestly he was deadly accurate up until that game and I don't see him having another game like that the rest of the year. You can't help tipped passes getting grabbed but you can also be grateful for WR running the wrong routes and CBs dropping balls that fall right in their laps. xlolx

They have no shot at the Buchanan Award because of stats but the play of Davontae Harris at Illinois State and Taron Johnson at Weber State has been good. I fully expect both to get a combine invite and be drafted. They should get invites to the Senior Bowl or Shrine Game.

I almost put him down there. There are several players who are like him and just need a big game. Although some players are playing well but not getting opportunities like the Weber State cornerback. Taron Johnson is one of the top 15 defenders in the country and a top 4 CB for sure with Harris and Williams among them.

I've been waiting for him to have another big one. He had several big games early in the season like the UTC game and it seems like each week a new guy just having themselves a big game. Bridges finally had himself a big game against EKU. Jackson has been on fire every week. Only so much defense to go around I suppose. Having too many mouths to feed on defense is never a bad thing.

I did not see your question before. I tallied it up by the games he played in. Statistically it is a slippery slope if you don't include the games the player did not start or only played in one quarter. His numbers are almost All-America worthy if you only averaged it for those games he started.

However, I don't believe it's fair to consider the first two games, where Jensen threw less than 10 passes, for good per game average.
