If we're talking about managing probabilities, I'm confident in my ability to do so. No one's an oracle, but probability theory helps. I learned it in college.
Lol. Oh, I know you learned it in college. Every post sounds like a paragraph from a term paper. Be interesting to see how your perspective is different 20 years down the highway. I mean, I'll probably be dead by then, but, ya know, self awareness is a powerful thing.

Furma scored 40+ today for the fourth straight game. First time that's happened in program history.

I'm interested in how they'll play next week and going forward. No denying that Furman has an efficient offense that can score a lot of points, but in that span they have played the worst of the Socon defenses/teams.
They certainly have the potential to keep improving. I think the thing that may limit their scoring is playing an effective offense that can burn a lot of clock.
It's gonna be really fun to watch them in the coming weeks

The only thing worse that the Citadel’s play calling was Wofford’s play calling for all but the last drive.
What this game does is resolve the great theological debate and prove that the creator of the universe is Methodist

Okay.... Is that based on statistics or mathematical probabilities and analysis?

Our problem is very simple, and comes down to one thing: more than half of our OL was playing on Friday nights this time last year. Our defense is still very good, but our offense gives them very little help.
I’ve been suggesting for some time that this would be a down year, and right now the only result that surprises me (much) was the Samford first half. Everything else is going down pretty much the way I thought it would.
Or maybe, just maybe a second half play call that is not a dive or QB keeper up the middle. Just maybe....

I know you're being facetious, but at times this year I've been frustrated with a particular breed of playcalling (passing on second and long) that I've been tempted to prove that it's a dumb playcall statistically just because it rarely works.
Option offenses are very schedule oriented and passing at a bad time can knock you off schedule. Having said that, our intermediate passing game is a force to be wreckoned with and that's another variable to consider.

For football purposes, we Methodists call it Dan Devine intervention.

I'm actually OK with the Creator being Methodist, but I think that means the Son is Baptist, the Spirit is Catholic and the Presbyterians have all the Theology....... :)

We’ve also had good play calling with the same result. When your OL is either overpowered or missing blocks, all running calls look like bad calls

Here is a crazy stat
No. 25 Western Carolina wins its first game as a ranked team since 1994 with a 49-10 victory of ETSU #FCS https://t.co/qjnVpqMNfl

Correction - #20 WCU. I would lean more towards the AGS ranking over STATS or the Coaches any day.

Yes, we are a unique group of nine who love statistics, verbosity, stubbornness, and splitting more hairs than Vidal Sasson. We got the Acidic Dog and we all miss the Man who loved the Catamounts more than cheap beer.
I love SoCon football and AGS too.

That's not the point. First time ever.
Furan's been playing football since, what, the 1880s and have fielded some pretty daggum good teams with some pretty incredible offenses.

Citadel was at its best last night when they ran the option, not when they passed the ball. It didn't look sexy but it was working last night

We’re way too inconsistent though- and that’s the youth showing, nothing more. I’m excited about this crew... but they need a year or two. I was excited this past winter, too - but then the bloodbath commenced... our blocking award OL decided to leave, and other attrition and just like that we went from reloading to rebuilding.

I think the Citadel will probably finish 5-6 or 6-5, but that's not terrible given the strength of the conference this year.

My guess is more like 4-7
and one of the wins from a lowly Div 2 team

Had a great time in Cullowhee last weekend. At least for the first half. First time I had been to a game there since 02. Beautiful stadium and surroundings. Nice fans.
Plus short drive to the casino where I left even. not a bad trip!

Indeed. The 30 minute drive to Cherokee is beautiful.
