That crowd would be about 2-3 weeks too late. This is the Coaches/SIDs poll. A&T will continue to move up as teams in front of them lose and no one below them will pass them unless A&T loses. Slot voting at it's finest.

Whole lot of love for Wofford. How does NCCU not even receive a single vote?

Western Illinois moved up with a loss; probably means they were undervalued in the first place.

At the rate we're going, I won't be surprised if we end up in the top 8 by the end of the month.

That's why I like the Massey Composite. An average of all the polls has us around 17-20, which is much more realistic.

But hey, I love the publicity. We've come a long way from when I was in school.

Come on, you're talking about a team that at absolute best could be around #20. You don't get points for FBS moral victories when you've been a perennial doormat in a bad league. Other than that their only win of quality is a 7 point win over a UT Martin team that is at best a fringe top 25 team. I can agree that Austin Peay could be ranked in the 23-25 range but acting like they absolutely have to be ranked to legitimize a poll just reeks of you desperately trying to build up the secondary teams in your team's conference.

Really, so what more would they have to do to convince you? They've checked literally every box. If they were any team other than Austin Peay they would be ranked. 1-2 Maine is ranked in the AGS poll and their only win is Bryant.

I didn't rank either of them. Austin Peay was one of 4 teams I considered at #25 and I eventually gave it to McNeese (and I mean gave it... they certainly didn't take it). They obviously need to keep winning and they'll convince me they belong in the top 25. If they're a bona fide top 25 team like you claim it shouldn't be that tough for them to rack up wins in the OVC.

Can't even blame it on the usual "they probably meant NDSU" reasoning. If that were the case, somebody voted the Bison far too low.

Skyhawk71
October 2nd, 2017, 02:09 PM
I don't necessarily think any OVC team should be ranked other than The Jacksonville State University, but to have TSU with more votes than UTM and UTM with more votes than Austin Peay in the ORV is kind of silly. The Peay defense boot stomped UTM, UTM beat TSU & it was never that close..... The following is my personal opinion: Chattanooga is always over-ranked in the preseason, so that win is now crap for UTM, TSU is always sneaking into the poll, but seriously their schedule was terrible coming into UTM at 3-0, now of the 3-2's I would take the Peay over the other two easily, also fwiw, JSU will blow APSU out, they can't run on emotion all year, and that is how they are playing. Fact is, they are really good for Austin Peay, and they are fairly equal talent wise to UTM, that was a trap game from the kickoff, and while everybody was freaking out over stopping the Govs offense, they forgot about their defense......

I'll get on board with what you're saying there. You have played a good OOC schedule, better then a lot of teams have. I hope that in two weeks when you come to Cheney we're 4-2 and you're 2-3. Has the potential for a fund Saturday afternoon.

Wofford has no business being in top 10 .. they are 4-0 against the 64th ranked SOS and only winning by 7 points per game. To contrast that against my ISUr, we are similarly 4-0 against the 75th ranked SOS, except we're winning by nearly 30 points each game.

Citadel is 3-1 against 85th ranked SOS and winning by just 11 .. same story ... if you are playing a weak schedule, you should be winning by 3 to 4 touchdowns if you want to be ranked higher.

NC A&T .. played against the 103rd ranked schedule. Only debatable decent team they beat was so-called FBS Charlotte .. Charlotte is the worst team in FBS and would be ranked just 58th in FCS according to Massey. NC A&T won by 4 points against this very weak team .. the toughest they faced this year. Zero tough games and zero quality wins

Grambling is worse than NC A&T .. zero quality wins.

I agree. I think Elon should be ranked in the 13 to 15 range and definitely a few spots higher than Richmond.
Colonial is looking very deep this year .. Elon, Stony Brook, Albany all deserved in top 2 discussion, along with perennial power.s It seems like CAA ais not as strong at top compared to last year ... even JMU is coming back down to earth as their schedule toughens, their offense is not as strong as a year ago .. then Villanova, Richmond, and UNH .. all look pretty good but vulnerable this year. But the usual middle of their conference looks much tougher this year than prior years.

As of today, I see strong potential for MVFC to get 6 teams and Colonial to get 5 teams for playoffs. Southern took big step back this year compared to recent few years where they were clearly climbing. Big Sky just seems all over the place with nice wins followed by bad losses ... no consistency so far.

IMO .. All of this points to MVFC and Colonial to get 11 combined bids ... as of this week.

No 3-0 Columbia?

No Northeast teams allowed. We have cooties.

Then don't worry about where you fall in the rankings for the FCS landscape. xlolx

We aren't , we are just enjoying the free publicity. 1 game at a time. Atlanta or bust
