Most crowded conference races

After 5 weeks, everyone is probably "statistically" still in the hunt, but which conference is the most even top to bottom? I know others will say differently, but the SoCon is getting tighter each of the last two weeks. There are 4 or 9 teams with a decent shot at the title, and if you include darkhorse/outside chances.....maybe 5 or even 6????

This week should help to shake things out a little more (with 8 or 9 teams playing conference games), but I think Wofford, Citadel, WCU, Chattanooga, Samford and Furman all still have a shot. I think ETSU isstill a few years away, but they are closer than any of us thought they would be at this point. Mercer might bounce back. andVMI is just BAD! Any other conferences seem this crowded?

It was a brilliantly run campaign...The patriot league went scholarship, and they made brilliant use of the Irish walkons in the trenches. Sure they took a lot of injuries, but so did the socon. Most of the patriot injury losses were Irish walkons, so the scholarship athletes were able to swoop in and cleanup when the socon was depleted. Besides, we needed to get rid of those excess irish since they breed like cockroaches

Semantics. You can call it Southeast Tennessee state, or Tennessee Chattanooga. Even directional schools are located in towns or cities.

I would say that we are one of the most crowded. MVFC is obviously crowded but hard to say until someone knocks off NDSU. Same goes for CAA and JMU. OVC is one trick pony and I hate to say it for Central Arkansas's sake, but Southland as well. Big Sky is a bit in disarray so they might be crowded as well. Patriot could get crowded but they seem a bit down. But I guess nobody is in as big of a mess as the Big South. Who knows how that will go. Probably K St or Chuck South.

As for the topic of this thread, I would say the Socon is kind of like the ACC. We KNOW at least 1-2 teams are really good, but an amalgam of other teams are average to above average and can beat anyone else in the conference on any given saturday...

Getting this thread back on topic, I think we can now definitely say the SoCon is the most crowded conference race. Anyone except VMI can beat anyone else in any given game. A bunch of teams might tie for fist with 2 or 3 losses. It’s a mess.

I guess, they are crowded with a bunch of decent teams, but SLC is crowded too with 10 bunched together...only problem being those 10 suck.
