I have to do voodoo tricks to get the POS to charge as it is. One of these days it won't charge and then it is toast like its Iphone3 predecessor. I think the charge port is about wore out.

oh crap .. thought I posted my week 2 picks on AGS. Here are my picks as posted and legally notarized on Redbird Fan page .. can I get a little exception here since I've been playig much nicer in sand box this year ?????

ISU had bye week, so I was 9-0 .. link and paste below. Come on Dewey ... a little love and understanding !!

Here are my picks and keys:

- Indiana State at Tennessee: Tenn is lock

- Missouri State at #11 North Dakota .. North Dakota is over-rated, and they lost 7 starters on defense, which was their strength last year. I think MoST gives them all they can handle, but UND will win a high scoring game by 10 points.

- #2 NDSU at #6 Eastern Washington ... EWU may have moe trouble adpating their roster to their new conservative minded coaching staff. They lost 56-10 to TX Tech, and their run/pass split was 50/50, even though they averaged an anemic 2.3 ypc running the ball. How do you throw same # of passes and runs while losing 56-10 .. this is not teh EWU that has been dominating the Big Sky the last 7 years. But NDSU has had several key injuries, so they won't be full strength. But NDSU defense is still better than TX Tech .. EWU better have differnt game plan thi sweek, or they will lose big in Fargo. NDSU wins by 10-14 on road.

- Cal Poly at #21 UNI - lot of new coaches plus pocket QB who threw 3 picks last week in 18 point loss to Iowa St. Cal Poly offense lost 6 starters. UNI defense is good. UNI wins at home by at least 14 assuming QB Dunne settles down. He has good arm.

- South Dakota at Bowling Green - no idea on this one. USD is all offense and highly suspect defense. Bowling Green is pretty weak. USD may catch the by surprise in high scoring game and win a close one. USD by 3 in high scoring game.

- #4 S. Dakota St. at Montana State - SDSU has too much fire power on offense and will win by at least 2 TDs.

- Mississippi Valley St. at S. Illinois - SIU is my dark horse team in MVFC - they will win by at least 7 TDs

- #22 Western Illinois at N. Arizona - WIU is my pick for 4th in MVFC - their commitment ro run game and defense should help them beat NAU in high scoring game. NAU QB is very good and game in at NAU at high elevation. WIU must control the clock or their defense will be worn down in the thin air. WIU by 7 in high scoring game.

- Robert Morris at #6 Youngstown State - YSU was surprisingly competitive against a good Pitt team. YSU plays NEC teams a lot and will NOT run up the score. So while YSU i 7 or 8 TDs better, they will probably only win by 5 TDs. Plus YSU lost a lot off that defense.

FWIW, I picked a high-scoring affair, as well.

so far so good for UND .. but MoST is really struggling defensively .. and no one expected a lot offensively .. so hard to conclude anything from that game. But UND is little stronger to this point than I thought.

But USD is hot right now .. until someone comes at them with power run game to chew up clock and disrupt their offensive mojo, they are going to ride current wave. Their offense is strong and overcoming their defensive shortcomings .. for now.

Here are my picks and keys:

- Indiana State at Tennessee: Tenn is lock

- Missouri State at #11 North Dakota .. North Dakota is over-rated, and they lost 7 starters on defense, which was their strength last year. I think MoST gives them all they can handle, but UND will win a high scoring game by 10 points.

- #2 NDSU at #6 Eastern Washington ... EWU may have moe trouble adpating their roster to their new conservative minded coaching staff. They lost 56-10 to TX Tech, and their run/pass split was 50/50, even though they averaged an anemic 2.3 ypc running the ball. How do you throw same # of passes and runs while losing 56-10 .. this is not teh EWU that has been dominating the Big Sky the last 7 years. But NDSU has had several key injuries, so they won't be full strength. But NDSU defense is still better than TX Tech .. EWU better have differnt game plan thi sweek, or they will lose big in Fargo. NDSU wins by 10-14 on road.

- Cal Poly at #21 UNI - lot of new coaches plus pocket QB who threw 3 picks last week in 18 point loss to Iowa St. Cal Poly offense lost 6 starters. UNI defense is good. UNI wins at home by at least 14 assuming QB Dunne settles down. He has good arm.

- South Dakota at Bowling Green - no idea on this one. USD is all offense and highly suspect defense. Bowling Green is pretty weak. USD may catch the by surprise in high scoring game and win a close one. USD by 3 in high scoring game.

- #4 S. Dakota St. at Montana State - SDSU has too much fire power on offense and will win by at least 2 TDs.

- Mississippi Valley St. at S. Illinois - SIU is my dark horse team in MVFC - they will win by at least 7 TDs

- #22 Western Illinois at N. Arizona - WIU is my pick for 4th in MVFC - their commitment ro run game and defense should help them beat NAU in high scoring game. NAU QB is very good and game in at NAU at high elevation. WIU must control the clock or their defense will be worn down in the thin air. WIU by 7 in high scoring game.

- Robert Morris at #6 Youngstown State - YSU was surprisingly competitive against a good Pitt team. YSU plays NEC teams a lot and will NOT run up the score. So while YSU i 7 or 8 TDs better, they will probably only win by 5 TDs. Plus YSU lost a lot off that defense.

So being in more of a struggle to beat Murray State than last year isn't...great, but I did see some encouraging trends from this one.



Solo tackling - for the first time since Steckel arrived, our defense was consistently wrapping up and making solo open field tackles. Murray State was only able to break tackles on a handful of plays.
Offensive line play, while not consistently dominant over the four quarters, generally had the run of play for most of the game. I didn't think we'd have this advantage against any team we played.
Offensive playcalling returned closer to what should be its bread and butter. Run the ball with Calan Crowder, pass downfield to Malik Earl, and permit Peyton Huslig to keep the ball on the occasional option read.
Punt return blocking improved as the game went on. Lanes began to develop for Holliman, who put in deeper returns as the game progressed.

I actually do. They seem to do things that I thought our previous staffs failed at. The biggest one is halftime adjustments. I was hoping they would hire a different guy when they made the hire so I started skeptical. I admit I was completely wrong. I think this staff is going to be good while they are here

- lone EIU TD drive of game: 14 plays for 80 yards
- all 15 other drives combined: 46 plays for 1 net yard gained

To be clear ... not an average of 1 yard per play, nor 1 yard per drive .. just 1 net yard gained on all 15 other drives combined.
