Yeah, Howard not being there shows exactly why computer rankings that include opinion rankings are totally flawed, especially early in the season. Plus, doesn't he still include preseason rankings?

Yes. Sagarin's preseason rankings are a weighted average of the past 3 seasons, I believe. Past history ain't gonna help Howard.

They're 12th. I don't know why they aren't getting love for blowing two spreads two weeks in a row.
I'd be shocked if they get blown out at Richmond.

That's the problem right there. 3 seasons ago means nothing to this season other than to please the big boys at the top of the P5 and ensure that the same selection of Bama, LSU, Ohio State, etc always get the higher ratings.

Except those teams are usually the best teams. If you want to have preseason computer rankings, you obviously have to include prior performance—there's no other way to do it.
