You should watch the game in Sleepy Eye

Maybe if Nicollet's own Ryan Hulke was still coaching girls basketball there. What is the bar there- the Depot or some railroad theme.

Springfield is closing their hospital.

Is the hospital part of Mayo? I guess they're closing many rural clinics down in southern MN, which is too bad for rural residents.

It is, but they have a very low patient volume.

I did say it tongue in cheek due to his affliction and that he is familiar with the area of my ancestors. I figured it would be lost on those not familiar with the area.

LOL! Not insulted by your laugh at all! I thought it was funny myself. It is only 34 miles for me to the Railway Bar in Sleepy Eye. cx500d and I have exchanged mutual experiences in the Minnesota River Valley area several times. I enjoy humorous references!

I did get some sympathy messages from the Mav coaches. I was with them at Slippery Rock so I feel bad about not being there in person. But a lot of worse things have happened than this to people so I just hope that they win! It would nice to have a ring instead of a runner up spot. No one that I know of in Mav land is going to have t-shirts made that say that!

I was in Mankato about a month ago on business, I back roaded it a little bit from Courtland to Makato on 109 then over to another road with a weird name, can't remember the name of the road, nice drive, hadn't been on that road for a while.

Yes, I was hoping that the Mav women's soccer team would have beaten eventual champ Grand Valley- the soccer final four was in Pittsburgh Thursday and Saturday. We drove past the Robert Morris arena on our way to the airport.

Gunn is the career rushing leader. Often sits out the fourth quarter because they don't need him. I doubt if he gets that rest on Saturday. Our third string running back had a 75 yard TD run against SRU.

watching the third quarter now, what a great one handed catch by # 84...... looked like the cameraman caught some proud parents as well

Yes, that would have been Vonn and Marcia wearing 84. Very nice people. I'd have to say that Marcia is an attractive woman. Brother Brandon was picked up by Carolina after the Vikings cut him- he had been dealing with some injuries after he made it through last season at Minnesota.

Heading to Mankato for pictures and consultation at 2:20 tomorrow. Don't want to become a Cyclops.

From NCAA basketball tournament runs?

Uh...every single one profits millions upon millions upon millions. Plus all the free advertising that equates to tens of millions in exposure.

They've also studied the impact on the university in the years after and actually see the quantity of applications goes up and actually goes up with higher quality students.

Update for anyone concerned: Just got back from Mankato for my eye checkup. Doc said everything is progressing as it should. The double vision should slowly go away- it is up to me if I want to keep it covered. Still supposed to take it easy- no plane trips, no heavy lifting, no blondes........actually, not the last part, no limits there. I have to go back at the end of January unless some infection sets in between times. Thanks for all of the well wishes and I hope that any more news that I get is positive.

Don't the Mavs have a lot coming back on defense?

Yes. We should have maybe a one or two loss season. The coaches do a great job of recruiting, our O-line is back and they are some BIG boys. Usually what wins for the Mavs is that they wear down the opponent- you can see it at the end of the 3rd and in the 4th. Of course everything is a crap shoot this season.

Anyone else see this? No need to dis Bemidji State after Montana beats Washington. The Beavers should win Homecoming, then throw Bobby Houck in Lake Bemidji after the game instead of jumping in themselves.

https://twitter.com/i/status/1434366424810549251Yea, and it ain't App State over Michigan either. Sorry, but this Washington team was no where close to what Michigan was back when App State beat them. And the Bemidji reference was pretty lame as well.

Mavs play at Minot Saturday night. I have another event so I'll miss it but it shouldn't be a close game. UMD will probably win the NSIC North this year- again.

Mavs had a 24-7 lead going into the 4th quarter at home. 28 unanswered points later Wayne State goes back to Nebraska with a huge road win.

What the heck happened in the 4th quarter?

Turnovers and soft prevent defense by Mankato??

Wind was a big factor. MSU scored two TDs with the wind in the third, WSC four TDs with the wind in the 4th. Mavs were without who I consider to be their best running back because he plows ahead instead of dancing- couldn't sustain a running game. Wildcats scored on big plays. The surprise was that the Mavs usually wear down the other team in the 4th- and with a 17 point lead should have put it away. It was just unlike them to do that. I don't see us making the playoffs this year.

Wayne is the surprise of the NSIC. They have beaten both UMD and MSU on the road. Freshman QB who got the crap beat out of him the second half. He took it and dished it back.

Mavs win 588-0 at winless Upper Iowa. Host Augustana next week who beat Wayne State in a close game today.

No love lost between the Vikings and Mavs. I plan on being there.

The other day my brother asked what happened to the guy who hit MSU's Kolstad in 2014. Well, he is back in jail. What still bothers me is that he got what he deserved but Nelson, the former Gopher QB who kicked him in the head when Kolstad was down, got off with nothing. The last that I heard about Nelson was that he played at East Carolina. I always thought that he was the most at fault.

IIRC, Kolstad was with the Bison for a bit. How is Kolstad doing? Do you know?

He got a lighter sentence than most do for a DUI. Both sentences that are handed out were pretty lame if I recall correctly.

Yes, especially considering that it was a life altering injury. I think that Nelson's family should have had to pay Kolstad for life. Neither punishment was much.

He should sue them civilly. Probably neither guy has a pot to piss in.

Different subject. I picked Mankato over Augustana in the pick ‘‘em deal. Thoughts on that.

Mavs have had Augie's number for a decade. I'm picking Mavs because of the home field. Augie has a tough defense- Mavs need to get their running game on track along with the short passing game.

Laker, were you at this one?

I see Augie won this. Bemidji beat Duluth.

Yes, I suffered through it. About 5500 there. Augie has the ball for 41 minutes. The only reason MSU was still in it in the 4th was two blocked field goals. No running game but 5 TD passes for MSU. I think that Augie is the best team in the NSIC. I'm thinking that them and BSU might be the two NSIC playoff teams, but with three games to go maybe only Augie. Augie QB had all day back there- MSU didn't get any sacks.

I could have gone to the Bison-Jacks game today, but instead saw my Mavs shut out Southwest MN 52-0. Mustangs had 8 turnovers and Mavs will have another winning, although disappointing, season.

Who even leads the NSIC? I saw Augie was in the lead but they just got bulldozed by Duluth. Northern got upset by Bemidji which honors Northern's tradition of constantly underachieving. The whole conference seems to be beating each other at any given time.

Northern finishes at UMD, Mary at BSU, UIU at USF. Three teams could actually make the playoffs- they take the top 7 in the region. MSU managed to lose to UMD, Augie, USF and Wayne while beating BSU. The conference is just crazy this year- losing to winless UIU caused Wayne to collapse and miss the playoffs.

1. Augustana (8-2)
1. Bemidji State (8-2)
1. Minnesota-Duluth (8-2)
4. Northern State (7-3)
4. Sioux Falls (7-3)
6. Minnesota State-Mankato (6-4)
6. Wayne State (6-4)
6. Winona State (6-4)
9. Minnesota State-Moorhead (5-5)
10. Mary (4-6)
11. Southwest Minnesota State (2-8)
12. Concordia-St. Paul (1-9)
12. Minot State (1-9)
12. Upper Iowa (1-9)

Bemidji got revenge for a regular season loss by winning at Augustana 27-24 in the first round of the D2 playoffs. The other NSIC playoff team got pounded at Angelo State. In the other Region 4 game, Nebraska-Kearney upset Western Colorado.
