The article linked below is interesting. It is about former GSU Athletic Director Bucky Wagner and the success GSU's athletic programs had under his leadership.
"Between 1981 and 1995, Wagner was a different kind of salesman. And more. He seeded, cultivated and marketed an ambitious athletics program to an enthusiastic agricultural community in Statesboro and throughout southeast Georgia.
And with Wagner in control, Georgia Southern reached heights few small colleges can boast - four Division I-AA national football championships, a trip to the College World Series in baseball, two NCAA tournaments, two NIT shots in men's basketball and two NCAA tournament appearances in women's basketball......"
