yes, but previously the issue was that if a student athlete took enough summer classes, it shortened their overall eligibility to play sports.

not following that logic since some athletes graduate and continue to play as post graduates...

from what I gathered from the article, student athletes have 10 semesters in order to complete their 4 seasons of eligibility (which makes redshirting a season a possibility), but I guess previously if someone took enough credits during the summer, then the summer term counted as one of those 10 semesters. But now, it would seem that the NCAA has made it so that only fall and spring semesters count towards the 10.
yes, some athletes have gotten their undergraduate degree in 4 years (redshirting during one of the athletic seasons during those four years), and then used their fifth year of enrollment to study toward a graduate degree.
