Officially Hornet Stadium holds 26,500 but the record attendance was set at 29,531 against Tuskegee back in 2012. This season we open up with Tuskegee and there are fewer than 1,000 tickets remaining for the ball game. This is the first time that we've played our long time rival since 2012 and the anticipation has been brewing since 2015 when it was announced that the series was back on!

I agree. Not sure how we can squeeze more in there than we did back in 2012 though.

This is pregame from that 2012 contest. We had temporary bleachers in the south end zone and we sold spots for the hill on the north end zone. Not sure where else we can squeeze folks in.

You still have plenty of room on that hill.

Serious question here: How can a D-2 (SIAC) school possibly be a big rival with an FCS school like Alabama State? It would seem like a world of difference in facilities, resources, and of course talent wise also.

Long history of playing each other going back nearly a century: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkey_Day_Classic

Our rivalry with Skegee goes back over 90 years. The schools are only about a 30 minute drive from each other and many families are divided between the two. We were conference rivals up until 1981 when we left the SIAC for the SWAC. There are quite a few FCS vs D2 Rivalries amongst HBCUs that are HUGE games. Winston-Salem State has a big rivalry with both NC A&T and NC Central. It was announced that Central and Winston-Salem State will be playing in 2020 and when it was announced the HBCU message boards and Facebook groups blew up. All of these HBCU rivalries go back decades and have continued to be big games even though some have moved to the D1 level.

Mostly unrelated...Winston-Salem State has probably the oddest football stadium I've ever been to.

For those that don't know (and especially for those of you who hate tracks around football fields)...it's surrounded by a 1/4 mile NASCAR track...seriously: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowman_Gray_Stadium

The hill filled up mid-way through the 1st quarter. It was full of blankets and lawn chairs. From what I'm hearing they're thinking about temporary bleachers in the north end zone. My only question is, do they make temporary bleachers that can go on hills?
