My gosh... xsmhx

My question for them is -- why not play in a HS stadium just like many FCS and D-II/D-III teams usually do when they are homeless on-campus?

I don't understand San Diego. Lots of people- lots of money- yet they have a really tough time with their sports teams.

I am aware of Minneapolis and Seattle and other similar cities that mishandled one or two sports teams, but San Diego is more like Minneapolis (the Lakers and the North Stars were mishandled in different eras) than Seattle (remember the Sonics) or Washington (who mishandled baseball teams before)... xcoffeex

The North Stars were appropriately handled for their betterment; they are glad to be here.

They're not worried because they'll always have the #1 team:

It is a constant problem in California, you have to be a brand name (and win) to reap the benefits of the location. They have had success recently but cannot compete against the other schools in the area.

NFL Chargers- left
NBA Clippers- left
ABA Q's/Sails- folded
WHA Mariners- folded

Remember when the Padres talked about leaving?

I'm guessing there are lots of transplants from other areas who still follow their hometown teams like my sister-in-law who still roots for the Chiefs and lives near Palm Springs.
