Too bad Southeastern University (a small school in DC) doesn't play football. Quite ironically, Southeastern is in Southwestern DC (DC is divided into four quadrants that are a part of everyone's address).

It's VERY NICE to see an eastern school that is willing to travel for meaningful, tough games out of the east.  Congrats to Rocky and NE AD for scheduling UC-Davis, Northwestern St, and Northwestern as the OOC's!  And NDSU appreciated the game last year :hurray:

Come on, it's not like Western schools have been fixtures coming East either. And there are schools that travel - Maine, UNH, Yale, Hofstra, UD's going out to SDSU in a few years, just to name a few. But of course, leaving those games for the playoffs is fun too. ;)

As a matter of policy, NU attempts to have a "major" alumni event on the west coast every year, and tries to rotate it between NoCal and SoCal.

Last year we played at Cal's holiday basketball tournament, and every year, or every other year our men's crew rows in the San Diego Rowing Classic - which is the largest rowing event west of Philadelphia each year.

I see NU playing more on the west coast. One of our new hoop recruits is from LA, so I can see us doing a homecoming game (or two) for him in a couple of years.

I think our OOC football focus is going to change after 2009. We go to GSU in 2008, and that could be the last you see of us flying for an OOC. I think we realized there's benefit to playing home/home's with PL teams (see Holy Cross, and from what's been rumoured - Colgate), and it's more than cost savings.
