View Full Version : If you HAD to pick a team other than yours to win conference who would you want?
Bucs2016

For offseason fun...if God said you get to determine who wins your conference this year but it CANT be your team (and you MUST pick someone, or else he brings on the apocalypse) then who would it be?
Id pick Gardner Webb. They won the first 2 Big South championships in 2002 and 2003 and haven't really competed for one since. Ive always respected that program. They beat us last year and cost us a home playoff game. They're always a tough game and they play a tough brand of football. With LU and CCU gone...the Big South needs a couple teams to step up.
I know The Citadel will say VMI or Furman because deep down they dream of purple kangaroos. But what about thr rest of yall?

Someone we don't play this year: Richmond, Villanova or Delaware. I don't care which one. I would have picked JMU, until someone posted the recent revenue listing and a realized how much I paid them in varsity athletic fees the last 4 year when I had a daughter enrolled.

You should check out the thread about this on the CAAZone - it's actually less fees than almost every other state school. We just use them differently.
And to answer the thread question, probably UNH or Maine. Like both of what those teams are doing and their coaches.

I'm going to say SHSU.
Because if SHSU doesn't win the conference, referencing their recent history since 2011, then they will likely be second place. If that's the case and MY team can't win it, then I want a shot at the playoffs. If another team wins the conference and Sammy gets second, then it is VERY unlikely a third place team goes to the playoffs...so...if my team doesn't win it...my vote goes to SHSU.

But I can't vote for my Catamounts in this here 'poll'. I'm going with Mercer and Coach Lamb. Our first ever game against Mercer was in Macon. While walking to the will call I ran into Coach Lamb. Since God is a Catholic and Jesuits make up the only order that matters my choices are obviously limited to Georgetown and Holy Cross. Tough call... On the one hand, it's clear the Big Guy hates Georgetown football. OTOH, what did Cross do to drop them from an almost Big East member to a full-time Patsy member? Again, tough call, but God certainly knows what a Crusader is. Hoya? Not so much so the choice here can only be The Cross.
