Good luck in that opening game!

Glad to have HC back on our schedule. I always enjoy going up to Fitton Field.

Now that's killer... except for Brown and Dartmouth, don't know how they will be, but likely bad.

Very interesting. In my mind this is a critical year for the 'saders. Gilmore has made chicken soup out of one dimension teams for the past two years. (Mixed metaphor? I guess.) He needs to bring a lot more to the table in order to contend with this schedule. Here's hopin'.

Tough start out of the box with UMass and Harvard. Lookin' forward to seeing your QB at Goodman. Appears to have tremendous potential this year.

Opening at UMass is tough, but I wonder if the Crusaders could surprise a team like the Minutemen, who will have lost several key seniors. Closing out with Lafayette and Colgate will probably be tough, but they could get a leg-up from having the games in Woo-stah.

Last year's co-champs each went 6-5 in the regular season, and the pre-season pick to win it all went 4-7. Looking at these schedules, remembering last year's "Mediocrity r Us" season, and considering that all of the challengers have gaping holes to fill, I am thinking that it, unfortunately, looks like more of the same for the League in 2007, with "surprises" against OOC big kids being few and far between. Here's hoping, however, that the Patriot League is this year's Phoenix that rises from the ashes.

I agree completely carney. These past two seasons have turned me into a virulent pessimist, particularly for my school but also for the league as a whole.

Regarding the in-league analysis, I am really expecting the bottom three to improve over last year by a decent amount given that Fordham & G-town will have a second year of playing in their 'new' systems under their 'new' HC's and both played a bunch of underclassmen ... AND I also believe Bucknell played a bunch of frosh that did well. Other than Bucknell, though, who remains an enigma to me, I don't expect that Fordham & G-town are ready to challenge the 'PL Big 3' yet.

HC is a different story, though, since they really sustained their level of play despite losing so many talented sr's from the class that put them on the map. They are VERY solid at QB and Gilmore will have his guys with yet another year under their belts. I don't know if all of this equates to renaming it the "PL Big 4" or not but I certainly will not be surprised if they are competing for the title with their QB play and consistency at the helm.

With regard to the 'big 3' who knows? I agree that until Lafayette shows that they can't reload they need to be in the mix. I would have included 'gate in that mix but their faltering season last year means that they showed they can take that step back while Laffy just hasn't done that yet. Imo, it's a 2 horse race between two-overly-represented-on-AGS-PA-schools (jealously typed) for the pre-season 'title' nod.
