How many games against I-A/FBS teams are being scheduled in the NEC?

For the 2017 season Central Connecticut is traveling west to Syracuse, while Wagner travels to Western Michigan.

Some NEC programs have been adding FBS matchups, but Bryant, Duquesne, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart and Saint Francis don't have any this season. … Central Connecticut State's game versus Syracuse inside the Carrier Dome is the Blue Devils' second against the FBS (lost 51-14 to Western Michigan in 2007).
CCSU is at Ball State in 2018. … Duquesne will travel to Hawaii in 2018. The Dukes also will face UMass in 2018. … Other future matchups: Wagner at Syracuse in 2018 and Robert Morris at Buffalo in 2019.

I'm told that StFU would like to find an FBS opponent for 2018 but I haven't heard any specific teams being mentioned.

Why don't they put "STFU" on their helmets?

Probably about right. Is CCSU up over 40 scholarships now?

Good thing the Orangemen aren't running up against STFU!

No thread on this subject is complete without mentioning that a very middling Wagner team in 2012 shut out FAU for three quarters and came damned close to upsetting the Owls in what would have been the upset of a lifetime. The final score was FAU 7, Wagner 3.

Even better if they put this somewhere on their uniforms:

Yes, but other than that one game, Wagner has been outclassed by a large margin. In 7 games vs. FBS opponents, the Seahawks have scored less than 7 points per game, while giving up 42 per game.
Duquesne's one game vs. a FBS opponent was a 2-score loss, and the Dukes put up 28 points in the game.
I love the idea of the NEC playing FBS teams, but we are probably best served by playing MAC and Sun Belt teams, not P5 schools.

Yes. We are at 45 schollys and the rest in grants-in-aid.

Not a team on there I wouldn't mind seeing LU play except maybe Hawaii. Good for you guys.

I know a lot of fans want to see their teams play an FBS school, but personally, I'd prefer that StFU try to schedule a traditional FCS power each year. Last September's game at Montana was a blast and I'd rather travel to see some of these great stadiums as opposed to a half empty stadium in say Yipsilanti to play Eastern Michigan.

Agreed, that's probably best for most NEC teams. However, CCSU really needs the $$$ and exposure as we are the only public program in the NEC. IMO we need the FBS game each year to if we aim to recruit and try to compete at the highest levels of FCS.
But you make a great point that within the subdivision, all NEC teams usually play at least 1 "guarantee game" vs. FCS programs each year.
CCSU has played on the road at Georgia Southern, North Dakota State, James Madison, Youngstown State, Coastal Carolina, William & Mary, Stony Brook, and New Hampshire for $$$ in recent years.
Other NEC teams have played withthout a return game at NDSU, Delaware, Montana, Montana State, South Dakota State, Liberty, Coastal Carolina, Stony Brook, YSU, Richmond, etc.

No one has to convince Colgate that Wagner has a capable program. They knocked us off in the tournament that season.

Yup, Syracuse-CCSU had zero business being played; men vs children. We didn't need 60 minutes to know that....

Neither did Howard and UNLV - yet Howard just picked up probably their biggest win ever - and more press than they could have paid for. Sometimes you have to take chances to make memories.
