View Full Version : Last coach you would want to fight in each conference?

Saw an article on BCS coaches and who the toughest one from each conference was. Thought it would be fun to do for FCS conferences.
Big Sky I would probably go with Msu coach Choate. (only because Kramer left) That all changes when Idaho joins Petrino seems SAF
Mvfc I give the nod to Bo P dude seems nuts!
Give me your conference choices.

MVFC (and I assume we're going with current coaches, right?) - Pelini has his rage, but I also wouldn't count out SIU's coach. He's young, still in pretty good shape...wasn't that long ago that he was a very good starting QB in the MVFC, so that tells me he's good at either taking or avoiding hits, and has a strong arm, so he can throw a punch.

Mvfc is a tough one. Couple coaches in great shape and a couple BP and Farley who could go off.

So he is a creep? That does not mean I would be afraid of him if he went off. #scarednotscared

Isn't MSU's Dave Steckel a former marine? I don't think I'd want to mess with that guy.
EDIT: Yup, he is: http://missouristatebears.com/coaches.aspx?rc=238&path=football
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1975-78 and played four seasons as an offensive lineman at Kutztown University,

So...that leaves
Stig at SDSU - he's old as hell so he's probably the best option
Fisher at WIU is probably second. He's 58 and doesn't seem to have the playing/physical history of the others.
Look at the other MVFC coaches
Bo
-Just a whole different level of crazy. Once that kicks in it's game over
Farley
-All American LB in college. Still thinks he plays. He goes head to head in practice with players full speed during plays to simulate. He still out-lifts many players.
Mallory (ISUb)
-Played LB at Michigan under Bo. He's the "least intimidating" for looks, but it's still in there. I promise that.
Steckel
-Former marine that still looks like he'd be top 2% in Marine fitness tests
Klieman
-NDSU fans hate when I say this but he is mini-Farley in a lot of ways. He's not in just as many...but I wouldn't F with him.
Spack
-Impressive stache...doesn't seem like much of a fighter thought
Hill
-Young, in shape, etc...
Nielson
-Probably about a decade past being formidable.
Basically, in a conference v conference battle royal, I like the MVFC odds.

Oooh....that's a big plus then.
He's a few decades removed from it, but I'd bet he's still got some serious fight left in him.

Steck, Farley and Bo would be one of the best triple threat tag teams in the country. Pick any three coaches you want to go against them in a triple threat tag team and I'd take those three

Yeah, I can see that...but Clay Hendrix has a few less miles on him; not quite the Ol' Silverback that Coach Ayers is...and he was pretty dang scrappy as a 215 lb OG for the 'Dins...and I did raise him from a pup...so, I'm gonna say Coach Hendrix over Coach Ayers by a very small margin.
Too many pretty-boy QB's Head Coachin' in the SoCon. I think outside of a few others besides Ayers and Hendrix, the only fight you would get with them would be for a spot in front of the mirror.

Spack was MLB at Purdue .. started 3 years, made all conference and honorable mention all american as sophomore. Still ranked 5th all time in tackles .. don't let his passive post game interviews fool you .. dude has a fire burning just as white hot as Farley or Pelini.

Most traditional martial arts on their own are too ritualized to be effective in a real fight. From his bio Ayers was also a wrestler so I bet he knows how to combine various techniques though. Strong contender other than his age.

I dont think any of the ones in our conference would be all that tough haha. In the SoCon though Mike Ayers has been a black belt in some martial art for decades. Probably whoever coaches VMI too, frustration and access to guns cant be good.

Do you mean from the get-go? Or do threads that started out as legitimate discussion but veer off on a tangent count as well?
If its the latter, my vote goes to the thread a few years back that began as a discussion of the suspension of some Lehigh players, but ended up debating which actress was the hottest from the 1970s.

I wouldn't want to get in a spack with Brock, he's a pretty burly dude.
Farley would talk **** but wouldn't want to actually fight. If you turned your back, he'd cheap shot you though.
Klieman would tackle you and hold you down until you said uncle, then he'd help you up and buy you a drink.
Stig would reach out to you emotionally to avoid a fight, then hug it out with some tears.
Bo would storm off to find his brother to get some backup, then point his finger at you while Carl held him back.
Nielson would stay in his car and lock the door, he wouldn't want to mess up his expensive dress shirt and tie.
Steck would try to take on a bunch of you with minimal preparation, then would realize he was in way over his head while he got pummeled.
Each of them would welcome the opportunity to wipe the smirk off Stitt's face.

All threads involve the patsy league and the great wrong perpetrated upon the gallant and sinless Southern People during The War For Southern Independence is SOME way. I may do some research on Patriot League Confederates, there had to have been a few of them, and merge the universe. If I do either the world ends or we have a new golden age of 10,000 years of peace and prosperity. Opening that thread will have to be a conscious choice...
