Hosting the tournament this year with a 16-2 league record, the Mountain Hawks came back from the brink to win the tourney and the auto-bid to the NCAA's. They get the honor of playing against #5 and eleven time NCAA Champion UCLA!

Lehigh lost the second game of the PL tourney to #2 seed Boston University, and then had to come back through the loser bracket. In the elimination game with Army, Lehigh trailed 3-0 in the fifth inning when Vicky Lattazzio hit a bases loaded double to tie the game. She then hit a 2-run homer in the seventh to win the game. Then, Lehigh has to come back and win two against Boston U, which they did by scores of 1-0 and 4-3. Christine Campell, who grew up California pitched all fourteen innings of both games to secure the wins. Her record is now 25-5.

Lehigh started the season 3-11 and was 7-14, before starting league play this year and finished the year 38-16. These women are fun to watch. They never quit. Four years ago, they reached the NCAA regional and upset Texas A&M in he southwest region. Maybe lightning can strike again ala Lehigh beating Duke in basketball five years ago.

NDSU was up on Oklahoma 2-0 but weather delayed the game.

Great finish for Lehigh to end the season at 38-16.

Hope the "small" schools make some noise in the tourney.

I almost always pull for the small schools and the northern schools because the west coast and southern schools have the advantage of a much longer season. And especially so this year since the Gophers got shafted. Hopefully the Bison can knock off the Sooners.

Speaking of upsets-

NDSU knocked off defending champ Oklahoma in Norman 3-2 in extra innings. First time a defending champ lost their first tournament game since 1985.

Unfortunately the Bison lost the next game to Tulsa 2-1 and now have to play OU again...These rematches never seem to work out well.

Lehigh women had a great season. As their coach said after winning the PL, "We are not a great team skill-wise, but the girls never quit and find ways." Unfortunately, getting UCLA and the PAC 12 player of the year pitching against them was too much. Lehigh pitcher kept it close with her 'junk' (a great change up) for a few innings, but they figured her out. Second game was very close, losing 10-8 to Cal State. A great experience for the team as 8 of the players are from CA, so their families got a rare chance to see them play. With only 3 seniors on the team, they should be back again next year.
