(Chicago, May 8, 2017) The Chicago Football Classic proudly announces this year’s teams. Celebrating a major milestone 20 years in the making, the Chicago Football Classic features a “not to be missed” game between Grambling State University Tigers and the Clark Atlanta University Panthers, Saturday, September 30th at 3:30 PM at Soldier Field. Clark-Atlanta played in the 2016 Chicago Classic against Central State before a crowd of 35,101.

I've watched it on national television before. And I live on the east coast where there were no regional teams participating. I think it is a pretty big deal.

Nationally televised on The NFL network and has been going since 1997 with zero crowds under 30,000 even with the D2s playing in it the last few years. Now on the other end, Grambling vs Clark-Atlanta is bad matchup and this game will be over by mid 2nd quarter.

Panthers were 5-5 last year- I'm surprised that they are having an FCS-D2 matchup here.

I agree it would have been more competitive with either Tuskegee or Winston Salem-State taking Clark Atlanta's place as the D2 representative.

The match-up they wanted was Grambling vs. Tennessee State but TSU had a scheduling conflict.
