The Leopards get to play the first game there, I believe. I'm looking forward to it! xthumbsupx

EDIT - I assume the opener will be very popular. Do you know if we're going to get a ticket allotment?

Perhaps I venture down for the Lehigh game? I was there in 2011 on a brutally hot day. I'd like to see the new digs and a Lehigh win! MU has had LU's number recently...

I'm definitely going to the Pard game if we get tix, Owl. It's practically next door to Coach Garrett's family home in Monmouth Beach, too. September 2 will be still-summer weather. Party at Coach Garrett's place??? xrolleyesx

Are there any plans to put in stands on the visitor side? Even though it's probably not needed with conference teams coming from down south

Looks to me the press box being constructed will be on the "visitors" or far side of the field by itself. I don't thnk there is enough room over there for a decent sized grandstand. I though MU had all sorts of zoning issues concerning this a few years ago. I will definitely be there on 9/9 for the Lehigh game.

There is room on the other side of the field for the same setup. They need JMU to move on... and I'd like to see them add seats to get to 8-9k

I'm willing to bet that Monmouth wants to add seats as well - however, the problem for you is that West Long Branch is NEVER letting that happen.

Zoning restrictions will limit facility to just 4k forever.

Nice progress made hopefully this is the last snow storm of the year so that they can make up time lost and have it completed in time for the opening game. If by chance they can't open in time is it possible the opening game gets swapped to Lafayette?

And I agree the CAA won't approve a school with a 4k capacity stadium but the Patriot League would especially if it could swap it out with Georgetown (If Georgetown decided to drop their football down to D3 using an exception)..

It wouldn't be the first time an opener was switched due to facilities construction. From the construction pics, it looks like all the necessary footings and anchors are in place. Presumably the utilities are in place as well, from the previous structure. So you're not dealing with frozen ground conditions as an impediment. Just some snow (followed but mud I'm sure) but at most that's a couple of days. It seems to me all the work is above ground now. They'll wait until it's about 50 degrees for poured concrete but that's probably been the plan all along.

Gotta have faith, though. They'll get it done! xbeerchugx

Since there are no stands, will the fans get to be ON the field for the spring game?

Sad they cannot make this a bit bigger but if well built, should be nice! xthumbsupx

No interest.

That will never happen on campus. West Long Branch would never approve. I was surprised the school had no interest in building a bigger facility at the old Fort Monmouth facility.

Especially given the anticipated development at that site. It would have made for a great setup.
