Didn't realize Bam Bam was just 45. He was a young guy. Really arrived on the scene at a young age. He had already "arrived" on the scene early in the 90s, when he was in his late 20s/early 30s...

Biggest moment of his career was fighting Lawrence 'LT' Taylor at Wrestlemania XI.

HUDSON, Fla. -- Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow, the tattooed heavyweight professional TV wrestler, has died. He was 45.

He was found dead in his home on Friday, his brother Todd Bigelow said today.

Preliminary autopsy results did not show signs of foul play, but a cause of death will not be known until toxicology tests are completed in a few weeks, Pasco County sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin said.

Bigelow had been struggling with a persistent infection and diabetes, his brother said.

Bigelow wrestled with Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant during his two decades as a sports entertainer. Bigelow's flame-tattooed scalp and 6-foot-2, 400-pound frame made him recognizable in and out of the ring. He retired in 2004.

A service is planned for Friday in his hometown of Neptune, N.J.

dang! didn't know this about him:

Bigelow was also badly burned in an incident even more years ago where he rescued children from a forest fire. No lie. Acquaintances who knew Bam Bam well and they never had a bad word to say about him.

As someone on a wrestling board said, the chances of a former WWE/F star in his mid forties dying unexpectedly are so high as to come as no surprise. Sad but true. The price these gladiators pay for our amusement is sickeningly high. Scott Bigelow, may you rest in peace.

not that i claim to know anything about wwe or the such, but i would equate it to what an NFL lineman (either side) goes through n sundays. As i said, i do not know much about the WWE thing, but i think they do it many nights a week. Thats one hell of a way to make a living.

I recall Bam Bam from when i was younger, sad to hear about what happened.

I met him in passing several years ago and he was as nice as he could be.
We talked for well over a 1/2 hour and he posed for a couple of pictures w/ my kids.
My condolences to his family.:(

Sad news I always liked the guy. Too many of these guys die way too young... Kurt Henning, Bobby Duncum JR., Eddie Guerrero the list goes on and on.

The pain pills and multiple injuries take more out than the roids do. Wrestler's after career lives are just as bad, if not worse, than football players. At least football players have insurance during playing days. The WWE and TNA have no health insurance for in-ring performers. I would love for John McCain to get that bill passed he sponsored for health insurance for wrestlers and boxers.
