Wonderful to see 3 Palmetto State kids going. I had the chance to meet Austell from CSU briefly. Incredibly nice, humble and articulate kid. Rooting for him! But I hate to say...he didnt seem as big as his bio says. He looked more like a defensive lineman than offensive. Tbat may be why he ended up at CSU instead of a major FBS program. But the NFL obviously thinks he could be a Sunday player.
Also rooting for Deangelo Henderson from Coastal. Im still mad that South Carolina passed on him. They needed a playmaker at RB the last 2 years and he could've been it.

I'll be looking to see who else is added to that list in the coming days. Chad Williams of Grambling did pretty well at NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and the Senior Bowl. His name was really hot among Scouts. Also, Lenard Tillery was another kid Scouts were impressed with. Guy Stallworth (Grambling) and Jevancy Jones (Jackson State) are some headhunting linebackers who will be good additions to the combine.

Is Kade Harrington of Lamar not pursing an NFL career or do they think he is too small to warrant a combine invite?
The kid's numbers his junior season were pretty astronomical and probably would have been awesome his senior year if not for the injury. Figured NFL scouts would at least like to investigate how he was able to produce like that.

I have seen the final invite list and there will not be any adds. Unless one of them is on it and I completely overlooked them they aren't in. Williams is the best of that group and I expect him to be a PFA. The others are considered free agents or rookie mini-camp tryout types.

Hurt most of the year and I think that may have cost him a combine invite. He needs a strong pro day but I'm not sure if he retired. I'll find out during pro day time.

Not surprised there are no Bearkats. Look for quite a few in the next few years, though. All of our best players are coming back this year.

I was surprised to not see FS David Jones on the combine invite list. He was viewed on some sites as a 3rd-4th round pick pre injury. Shows how much an injury can affect a small school guys chances.

You have 1 player who I almost put on this list but I agree you should have several over the next 2-3 years.

Jones was never ranked that high by NFL teams. I kept hearing 5th-6th round to PFA and when he got hurt early I know the NFL Combine's PFA grade on him was never changed so that likely led to him being left off.

There are always 4-5 who do make it. I have a couple on that list I posted. Someone who did not have much of a career who has ability will have a team give them a chance and just latch on. Heck I can remember begging an all-star game to invite Mike Tolbert back when he came out and the game would not touch him and instead took a hot name from Richmond. The Richmond FB never made it and Tolbert is a multi-year Pro Bowler. It happens.

Too bad Zack Johnson hurt his knee at the shrine game. He was having some good practices there. I'm assuming both he and Lechler will get in a camp.

I would imagine they get in camps. Johnson has a long medical history. I know the Senior Bowl and NFLPA Bowl did not really consider him because of his injury history. That is one reason the NFLPA has passed the Shrine in the eyes of NFL teams because they have seemed to do a better scouting job and are putting on a better game. I was really surprised Johnson got in the Shrine. The Shrine passed on a ton of good FCS OL like Leamon, Ugokwe, Levin, and lost out on Dunker.

A kid who suffered from uninspiring QB play in his senior year is Bruce Mapp of Coastal Carolina. Slot type receiver who put up pretty good numbers as a junior on a great CCU team (769 yards & 7 TDs) but with loss of QB they ran the ball much more last year and his numbers dropped down to 423 yards & 6 TDs

I would assume teams are looking at him as an athlete not so much at QB.
You don't see him succeeding with a position change?

Bailey was, by almost all accounts, a horrible teammate that refused to change positions and rather than change positions and accept that Dunne was better stopped practicing and playing. Him being out with an injury? A lie. He threw a bitch fit over getting benched and quit without leaving the team.
His attitude was dog **** once that decision was made. He, until graduation day (I'm assuming still) wore his Illinois Fighting Illini letterman jacket around campus, to and from the facility, on road trips, etc...

Definitely.
Only 13 were invited to the NFL combine (out of 330 players). This is horribly disproportionate to the 15% of NFL rosters made up of FCS players.

Schult is not considered to be a great athlete. He may get drafted with a strong pro day though. I could see him sneak into the 6th or 7th round with a big time pro day.

That may keep him from getting signed. I just know based on athletic ability he was considered a potential free agent during the fall but I'm sure he will get dinged for that attitude and end up in a secondary league if that is all true.

I expect that 15% to drop over the next 5-8 years. With so many more teams moving up and making 85 less FCS scholarships more and more you should see the G5 level have a big increase in talent.
With that said, there are some very good FCS players left out due to the numbers game. The NFL will only invite 330 players to the combine. They want to invite more but can't due to logistics reasons. I wish we could see 400 at the combine. I would expect no more than 5-7 players drafted who don't get an invite if that was the case.

Mapp's bigger issue is that he does not have much speed. You could argue that Pascal of ODU suffered from it too but he has much better physical tools and skills. If Mapp played like a 4.5 or 4.4 guy he would have had so much more interest from NFL teams than he has. It's just coming down to his lack of speed on film in the eyes of NFL teams.

Cole will be a definite free agent pickup and I could see him getting drafted in the 7th round even though right now I project him as a first wave priority free agent. He looked very good at the NFLPA Bowl.

A kid I hope gets his shot is Brian Brown. Record breaking numbers, got better each year. I felt like every one of his touchdown he was open by 20 yards. Just not sure how he translates to the nfl being a shorter outside receiver (6'1). Reminds me of tajae sharp but maybe a little more straight line speed than quick. Not gonna get drafted, but hopefully he can get in a camp and succeed.
