The selection committee's use of the RPI, which assesses each team according to its résumé and strength of schedule, has long been criticized as an outdated barometer. It does not consider margin of victory, and the bulk of its value is determined by strength of schedule factors.
Maybe a better shot for good teams in weak conferences who get knocked out in the conference tourney?

I looked at the article and didn't see anything really definite, but hopefully some non power conference team who runs off a really good season and gets beat on a half court shot can still make the tourney.
I would rather have them go back to the 64 team field. Those extra four spots were just so the power conference teams could make it. Not really fair to have teams come in to play a pigtail game midweek and then have to play a fresh team that weekend. And shouldn't they all have to be #16 seeds to play in that game?
