Surprising in that Maryland's assistants seem to be bailing after Durkin's first year.

As for Howard, it's been a dysfunctional program for years, and has nowhere to go but up. The self-styled "mecca" of the HBCU's has one season of more than six wins in its last 19 and was outscored 408-169 last year.

Cam Newton's little brother also signed to play for Howard, could bring in a little extra local interest.

My how the mighty fall fast. Mike was a mover....but when the FBS comes calling, especially P5, you have to take the money.....Hard to win at UVA these days. Hopefully he can make the turn at Howard and win some ball games.

The Washington Post did a story about this some four or five years ago. They quoted a coach from another school to the effect of "If you're going to play Howard, play them early. They always have a half dozen guys whose paperwork hasn't been processed and can't play until midway through the season."

Howard is finally getting serious about athletics which is good. They're also planning to build several new homes for their sports teams including a new football stadium.

That's news to me as well.

That being said, there was all types of talk about improving DC sports venues last year when the city was in contention for the 2024 Olympics. If plans to improve Howard's facilities exist, I wouldn't be surprised if they were related to that effort.

I'm thinking that London wouldn't have taken that job without some type of commitment from admin about that football stadium and facilities. Our stadium is like Vaught-Hemingway compared to theirs lol

That's different (and more realistic) from the two-year $800,000 deal that was in the article I posted.
