Idaho now leads CSU 48-14 on a slippery blue turf field in Boise. Announcers have made several references on how the Vandals will be returning to FCS and the Big Sky in 2018.

The player doesn't understand what the FCS will mean to him, but he called the UofI president "tone-deaf".

However which way, Idaho will remember this bowl win as its last opportunity at one. xdontknowx

Idaho doesn't join the Big Sky until 2018. Is next year a transition season where they're no longer bowl eligible?

It was a nice win for the Vandals and I'll forgive a young man for being somewhat overly exuberant during the afterglow of victory.

Idaho BARELY beat Montana State to start the season. Then they lose 59-14 to Washington and 56-6 to Washington State. I watched them a few times and from a talent standpoint I think they would have gone 5-3 or 6-2 in the Big Sky. They would have been an FCS playoff bubble team. Over the previous few years they would have finished in the bottom half of the conference.

This is just another example of how there's not much separation between the top half of FCS power conferences and the Mountain Wests and Sun Belts of the world (Remember, Central Ark beat the Sun Belt co-champ this year). Especially when you factor in the scholarship differences and the fact that FCS is ALWAYS playing EVERY FBS team on the road.

Idaho belongs in the Big Sky for a variety of reasons. The only ones who don't get that are the current young men playing there and a few clueless donors. I'm happy for their fans that they'll soon be back to a conference with 5 close rivals and competing for national championships.

One good thing about the Idaho football team. They have been PERFECT in every bowl they have ever played as an FBS team. All in the Idaho bowl, whatever the title was at the time mind you, with victories over Southern Miss in 1998, Bowling Green in 2009 and now CSU in 2016. How many FBS teams can say they've never lost a bowl game?

Minimum of three bowl games.

Good thing that you added that. Old Dominion is now 1-0 after beating Eastern Michigan.

Ha, gotta keep moving the yard stick. God help any of the recent move ups get looked at favorably.

Idaho Coach Petrino thinks that they should be in the Mountain West.
