Glad the big south's future member was in the NC game for D2, but I need to hear from you guys on this.
What does everyone think about the games location? If I was a fan of D2 football I'd be pretty pissed off. In the playoffs im all for the conditions of whoever is hosting, many of us FCS fans have teams that play in the snow come the end of the season or playofffs.
I personally think it sucks for the D2 fans and players that they have to go to a blizzard in kansas city, even if it was not snowing it would still be like 20 out. Shouldn't the championship game have weather being a non factor for the most part? It also doesnt help getting people to show up when its snowing non stop. IMHO

I'll tell you what northern FCS teams always say....they BOTH had to play in it so noone had an advantage.

That game was a mess. UNA looked great at the beginning but as the weather got worse so did UNA. That crap was a serious mess. But like you said, advantage NWMST considering they live like an hour to the stadium from Maryville.
That crap was -7 degrees. Want to know the last time it was -7 in Florence? Never.
I like that stadium though, it's really nice, but the weather there this time a year is generally garbage.

MSU-Mankato played there two years ago. Cool temps but field was clear. The only cold that I felt from being there was from losing the title game. I think that this is the first year that is snowed during the game. The configuration of the field stops the wind.
Where do you move it to? It was in Florence forever- and I remember some real rainstorms there. I would doubt that they would want it back with UNA moving up. Do you put it in Florida- or Texas- or California? Any place that you move it to will be a long haul.
I've lived here all my life- played and coached in snow in HS and college. As a receiver it really sucked. I hate it. But other than moving it to a dome- and those are way too big for this game- where do you put it.
D3 had their title game in Salem, VA last night. I think it was 22 when the game started.

Championship games are pretty much always long hauls. Hell, Frisco is at least 14 hours from anyone good except Sam Houston.
As far as domes go, you might be able to get away with putting it in Atlanta. Not sure if it would work but the new MLS configuration is supposed to seat 29,000.

Atlanta- A city burnt by the yankees during the war and unfortunately rebuilt afterwards.

I still say host a championship weekend that involves FCS, D2 and D3 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

My thoughts are outlined on pages 4 & 5 of this thread (http://www.d2messageboard.com/showthread.php?83713-Weather-Conditions-D2-National-Championship-Game).
You know, there are occasional ice and snow storms in north Texas too (such as the week before the Super Bowl when it was held in Arlington in early 2011). If such a storm happens when the game is held in Frisco, are people going to be saying playing at some site where weather is a factor is more important than playing in a fairly new stadium that hosts professional sports?

One other thought - with the FCS/DI-AA and D2 title games, especially the former, I think it is highly beneficial to play the game in a large or relatively large market where people can travel relatively easy to the game via air.
I wouldn't be opposed to having the D2 (or for that matter, FCS/DI-AA) title game in Atlanta, but cold/bad weather happens there in December/early January sometimes too.

It was 60 here yesterday.
We've only had snow twice in the past 5 years IRRC. And it's extremely rare that it screws anything up. Outside of the ice storm a couple years back I've never seen much of anything here.
Oh and the world's largest passenger airport is 15 minutes south of the stadium. So there's your air.

I actually like this idea!
