Quite often but then again Eastern is not that good of a football team one of the 3 phases is good. Losing in the playoffs is what the Big Sky does so its not that shocking.

I do love the fact that the refs did everything they could to **** YSU includng not throwing a flag on the last play for holding or PI or unsportsmen like conduct......that was a rape that should be investigated by local law enforcement if the refs are not going to throw a flag.

Either way its awesome that Eastern gets housed like that, now thye are even for the **** job NDSU got in Cheney in 2010.

YSU did have a bad passing offense for much of the season. They went through...what...4 QBs this year? And Wells wasn't even supposed to be playing this year. It was only after the first three all got hurt or did really badly that they went and asked him to start. Once Wells started playing, YSU started scoring a lot more. They had a good running game pretty much all year though...that's what kept them in those low scoring games.

This was the first game in wells carrer where he would scamble and not just sit back to get sacked, thus why he was going to transfer out and being 4th string qb to start the year. then when the top 3 qbs got hurt Pelini asked him to give it another shot and he has slowely progressed after taking back over this year. Im so proud of the improvement he has made as the 2nd half of the year and playoffs have gone on. Without Wells we would not be where we are today

Oh, and that UNI defense forced a benching of Gabe Gubrud at half as he was just 13-26 for 114 yards with two picks. He had like 1,000 yards of offense the two games before playing UNI.

I figured this would be a close game despite the suspensions. What surprised me is how many points were scored. I figured the Guins would get their rushing yards, but McCaster was on fire and both backs killed us up the middle. The two turnovers really hurt us and we only ran 18 plays in the second half.

The kickoff and lack of blitzing on the final possession surprised me as well. Hindsight....

I think Youngstown was a little more physical. That's the reason they won. The skill players at EW are incredible. Also that 4th quarter performance by YSU is just one of many through the season. When YSU lost to the Dakotas it was the real low point of the season. UNI wrecked the second string QB. The 1st string QB out with a bad concussion and still is. They had a red shirt freshman in there it was just bad it took 4 games for Wells to get up to speed. Once he did he gave us the deep threat. We went to a power run game and there you have it

The fact is, it was 95% his inexperience playing in windy conditions, and 5% the UNI defense. And then our second stringer brought EWU back from what should've been a lock for UNI. He completed over 70% of his passes and threw for three touchdowns. Yep, we did use a fake FG, once again, because of the wind. It was shocking to me that it worked, because especially after the illegal motion penalty, making that kick in that wind was such a low probability, it was surely a better bet to fake the FG. It worked perfectly. People said that Baldwin had huge stones for making that call, but giving the circumstances, it really was the most logical thing to do.

He had over 1,000 yards of total offense in the 2 games before that. He was king ****. UNI curb stomped him. Second year in a row that UNI forced a QB change from EWU. EWU made adjustments in the second half and UNI, shocking (not shocking at all) didn't.

UNI plays in a dome. No weather of any kind. It's always between 68-73 for every single UNI home game for the last 41 seasons. Doesn't change my point. To claim that no defense has held EWU to less than 44 (or whatever the claim was) is wrong. UNI's defense held EWU to 21. UNI's special teams just happened to suck and gave up 3 special teams touch downs over the Montana and EWU games. Oddly enough, that's what cost UNI those games. Not the ****ty offense, as the UNI offense scored enough to win based on offensive points. EWU would have been 30-21 and Montana would have been 14-13. But turns our ****ty special teams loses games too.

Over those 3 games UNI averaged 290 yards of offense and had 4 total offensive touchdowns....none vs YSU. UNI ran 6 offensive plays in the second half vs YSU and had 9 yards of offense with less than a minute left in the game and UNI still had the lead.

Safe to assume that UNI, with any kind of offense, likely wins that game.

No doubt UNI with an offense would have been really dangerous. I'm saying YSU had no offense to speak of during the game either. I'd chalk a lot of the low score to two great defenses!!

After the miserable game against Indy State the coaching staff had a come together meeting with Jesus and Bo. Seemed to shake things up somewhat xthumbsupx Plus bringing back our QB from the last two years brought it all together.
