Dartmouth has also made an offer to former Illini coach Bill Cubit (fired in favor of Lovie Smith) to be offensive coordinator.

My gut (and I have nothing to back it up) is that this transfer, and the offer to Cubit are related.

From what I read, Cubit got a nice severance from Illinois.

Obviously, Dartmouth will be a step-down pay wise. And if he can find a better offer elsewhere, all power to him.

But if it comes down to working or not working as a college coach, I'd be inclined to take the pay cut and go to Dartmouth if I were in his shoes.
