Rashaan Salaam (http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/738/rashaan-salaam), who won the Heisman Trophy in 1994, has died, a family spokesperson said Tuesday. He was 42.

Salaam's body was found in a parking lot at Eben G. Fine Park and 911 was called just before 9 p.m. on Monday, according to Boulder Police spokesperson Shannon Cordingly. The park is less than two miles from Folsom Field, where Salaam starred as a running back for the University of Colorado (http://www.espn.com/college-football/team/_/id/38/colorado-buffaloes).

Cordingly said there were no signs of foul play and an autopsy to determine the cause of death will be performed by the Boulder County Coroner's Office. Police told Salaam's mother, Khalada, they suspect suicide after finding a note. She told USA Today Sports, "They said they found a note and would share that with us when we get there."

"The Buff Family has lost an outstanding young man and a great Buff today," Colorado athletic director Rick George said Tuesday. "We are heartbroken for Rashaan and his family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this very difficult time."...

Sucks for all involved! He was a great college RB! That 1994 Colorado team was loaded with talent! I loved to watch 90's Colorado football so I caught quite a few of his games. He was awesome in the Michigan hailmary game...

Sad that 2 of the 4 1994 Heisman finalists are dead. Steve McNair being the other....

A lot of college talent that didn't translate to the NFL, and I too enjoyed watching those Colorado teams. Being a Redskins fan, I spent a lot of time watching mediocre DC teams in the late 90's and Michael Westbrook didn't do anything to help the situation. Kordell "Slash" Stewart was an above average quarterback in Pittsburgh, with an above average tendency to turn the ball over on the biggest stage, leading to AFC Championship Game losses to the '97 Broncos and '01 Patriots. Christian Fauria was a very minor cog in two Patriots Super Bowl teams, serving as more of a blocking tight end than any kind of legitimate receiving threat. For whatever reason, those Colorado guys just couldn't put it together in the pros.

Chad Brown, Greg Biekert, Andre Gurode, Charles Johnson, Jay Leeuwenburg, Chris Naeole and Alfred Williams had good to very good NFL careers. The Buffalos of the late 80's to mid 90's were great TV. I'm glad their relevant again. Folsom Field is one of the cooler stadiums/settings in college football.
