Sammy Sosa is reportedly close to a minor league deal with the Rangers, the team with which he broke in to the big leagues in 1989. Of Sosa's 588 career home runs, only his first came with Texas. Off of which 300-game winner did Sosa hit that homer?

Sammy Sosa hit his first major league homer on June 21, 1989, off Boston's Roger Clemens.

Sosa's first career home run came off of Red Sox righthander Roger Clemens on June 21, 1989, at Fenway Park. Five weeks later Sosa was traded to the White Sox.
