Big dual meet of the year in the EIWA will be at Lehigh's Stabler Arena. Crowd in excess of 4,000 expected. Both teams, however, have been riddled with injuries, so it will be interesting to see who is able to take to the mat. Mountain Hawks were without three starters on Saturday verus Navy, and all three backups lost big. Lehigh has also lost starter Galante at 165 for balance of season due to academics and Matt Anderson, who has been a very reliable guy over the years has had to stop wrestling due to spinal stenosis. Season is definitely looking like a 'rebuilding' job with a lot of youngsters getting baptized. However, this bodes well for another year or two down the road.

The Mountain Hawks pulled off a big upset tonight. Cornell was also ranked #1 in the EIWA and Lehigh was #5. Both teams were missing on star: Cornell's Nickerson at 125 and Lehigh's Cassidy at 197. Lehigh got falls back to back at Hwt and 125 (match started at 157). Crowd of about 3500 gave great support to the Brown and White. Even those who lost wrestled tough. Seth Ciasulli unranked at 133 gave #3 Frey all he could handle before losing 11-8. Helfrich returned to the lineup at 174, but was clearly working on only one good wheel, and gave a strong effort before losing to #19 Hooker in a close bout. Freshman Sensation Dave Craig won big over Senior Luke Hogle, but got sloppy at the end and gave up an escape the resulted in a decision as opposed to a major. That one extra point was possibly going to haunt the 'Hawks in the end, but Weibel and Fisk's falls gave added bonus points that were the difference.
Next up for Lehigh is a double dual with Harvard and Brown on Jan. 27 followed by another double dual with Hofstra and Columbia on the 28th at the NY Athletic Club.

Congrats to Lehigh tonight on a big win over Cornell. Hopefully they can finish the rest of the year on a strong note.
