Okay now on my laptop. Some thoughts-
1) SHSU system is susceptible to press coverage. They don't have an offense complicated enough to overcome it. They are running HS level routes.
2) Why they hell are they playing d with a cushion? Letting the JMU O play pitch and catch. Go after them.
3) Conditioning seems like an issue. 20 degree weather is a shock to the body when you aren't used to it.

Overall, even if SHSU is outmatched on personal they are getting out coached. Also SHSU isn't used to adversity. Someone punched them in the face, and they don't know what to do.

It's what Kelly ran at Oregon. It's why Oregon QBs never translate to the NFL. It's about counting which side of the field has more defenders and throwing the primary route to the other side of the field. Mariota is the exception there.

It's why that offense has to be run fast. It keeps the defenses tired and makes it harder to press WRs. It also creates alignment issues allowing passing lanes to open up easier.

After watching the last two games it might be easy for the untrained eye to believe that JMU is an unstoppable Juggernaught. But we must keep in mind that JMU abused a secondary with 4 true freshman in UNH and a grossly unprepared SHSU. Let's open this thread up to some honest reflection and dialogue. I firmly believe that JMU and 'Nova were evenly matched despite the score. "Nova dominated play against SDSU on the road but the 'Jacks were coming off of a bye which can be very difficult (Apparently not for JMU : ( ) NDSU did what they always do, grind out a win. I'm hoping that JMU can win next week, I would expect them to be playing NDSU but we will see what happens tomorrow. NDSU will be a tough win, I hate NDSU because they do everything so well and they always make the big play when they need it.


Time to switch the conversation. Sam Houston was obviously overrated as many of us foresaw. The question now is if JMU can beat NDSU or SDSU. After watching the last two games it might be easy for the untrained eye to believe that JMU is an unstoppable Juggernaught. But we must keep in mind that JMU abused a secondary with 4 true freshman in UNH and a grossly unprepared SHSU. Let's open this thread up to some honest reflection and dialogue. I firmly believe that JMU and 'Nova were evenly matched despite the score. "Nova dominated play against SDSU on the road but the 'Jacks were coming off of a bye which can be very difficult (Apparently not for JMU : ( ) NDSU did what they always do, grind out a win. Thoughts?

The game is moving to fast for them, you have the northern southern speed of JMU and the deep southern speed of SHSU. They are used to the stoner speed of the pacific northwest.

There is no way you can sit here and say that JMU defense will be way better than what the Kats just saw in #3 ranked defense of Chattanooga and Kats O scored 41. AND, Kats O left at least 14 on the field when Briscoe overthrew two receivers that were wide open for tds. I think Chatty fans would tell you that the Kats WR corp is way better than what you may read or hear.

Fair enough but that's not a "3 year turnaround project" like they keep referring to. I guess it's probably tough to fill time in a game this horrible so I should give them a break but they've brought it up multiple times.

The fun part in all of this isn't the fact that SHSU is going to lose the game, it is the fact that they are getting destroyed. So do their fans still think they deserved to have a #1-2 playoff ranking. Any team can lose on any day, but getting treated like you should not have even made the trip and would have been better off forfeiting the game, that is priceless.
