I mean JMU's bball team is absolutely terrible, and SHSU isn't close to world beaters. So I would assume it is about 60/40 in favor of football outscoring basketball. In fact funny story the JMU basketball team has yet to reach 80 while the football team has done it twice.

Agree with the many Sam fans on here. Trust me, we think it's just as dumb. This is just 1 of many things they appear to get wrong. It's the biggest reason we can't fill our high school stadium. Zero game atmosphere, which is sad because the product ON the field is top-notch.

My weather was from Monday, phone app. Glad it will be a bit warmer. I stand by 100% but you can judge that tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how your O line adjusts for PJ. I think we will have a fun game to watch!

I understand, but it is pretty short-sighted. A deep run by any Southland team is good for the conference overall. Fans are just fans. Look beyond our homerism. Guarantee you would have tons of 'novemberists' all over this board if the Jacks were in our place.

By the way, a few of our players couldn't attend graduation because of the game, so graduation came to them....

Pressure in the pocket is key to limiting Briscoe's effectiveness. You give him time and he will eat you alive. Chatty did a really good job of creating a lot of pressure and we still scored 41. But JMU's offense is much better than Chatty's. Can tonight get here any faster?

We don't kick a lot of field goals but kicker is decent. Really solid from 40 in. Ive watched him hit 55 in warm ups no problem, again in warm ups. I would be comfortable in decent weather out to 45. His long is 48.

Not necessarily, He is able to move around in the pocket to slide away from pressure. I don't consider that running. If they O-line breaks down and somebody has a free shot, then JB will try to get out of it, but i give a 50/50 shot at that point. Make sense?

He can take busted plays and make them look like magic, however he isn't going to run around like johnny football to do it.

TBH until last week he really has had a clean pocket all year. I look at last week as our line was beaten pretty well for a good portion of the night and JB had to move off the spot or had no where to slide in the pocket. But that was the best D-Line in the FCS in my opinion.

Briscoe has been sacked a total of 15 times during the year, 7 of those were last week. He has had a completion rate of 67-68% during the season. He is accurate, has a very strong arm and a quick release. Plus he has receivers that just don't drop passes very often.

Briscoe is not very mobile, but has great pocket awareness. He will move around , but will get rid of ball too. An no disrespect to JMU D-line, but I will say that the Chatty D-Line is probably the best defensive line I have seen in FCS.

One other note, don't think that the JMU secondary will be able to lock in on one receiver to shut down and will slow down the offense, because it wont happen. Kat offense is LOADED at the skill positions.

Chatty said the same thing, and yes you want to try and keep him off the field, but the Kat O can strike quick. Kats will not win the TOP battle. Its really one reason why the defense has struggled at times. Chatty's front 4 was legit. Both of their defensive ends will play on Sunday and their defensive tackles really caused trouble. I don't think they blitzed but maybe a couple of times. Their front 4 was that good.

And don't let the numbers fool you, the Kat D is really talented and quick. Front 6 is strongest part of group. Yes the defense has given up some yards, but they also put a lot of pressure on opposing offense. They are ranked 7th in FCS in team sacks and 8th in FCS in tackles for loss.

Kats made a few mistakes last week that kept the game close. Briscoe overthrew two receivers with the wind behind him that were wide open for long tds which was the difference of being up 35-14 at half vs the 21-14 score.

I am looking forward to this game. Should be a good one... This will be another tough test for the Kats on the way to Frisco....

I am still not certain that Briscoe will play. I can see Keeler throwing this smokescreen to force the JMU staff to prepare for two very different QBs. Just the visual of how he was favoring that arm when he took the hit makes me question that he could actually be 100% ready. I hope he is because we will have to go score for score with the Dukes. If he is not, our run game will have to carry us. We are averaging 184 yards per game rushing, so it is possible. Actually, I hope we try to run the ball more than usual anyway in order to keep Schor on the sidelines.

I don't think he is throwing a smoke screen. Briscoe is playing, Griffin is ready if needed. I personally don't think KCK would have let Briscoe go back in the game last week if he was truly hurt that bad or if he would run the risk of not playing this week.

My take on briscoe mobility is this:

He's not a runner. But has picked up some first downs.

He's not a scrambler. But has moved around in the pocket very well all year. He has good footwork. He is great at stepping up and letting pressure blow by.

His issue last week was the same as JSU last year...the DL was on him so damn fast there was nothing he could have done. Neither team ran him down or forced him from the pocket and smashed him.


It was basically "Snap..crush" Repeat.

Not one dame QB trying to pass the ball can deal with a rush that's on them that fast

So if JMU can get pressure INSTANTLY, then hats off to them, they earned the win, good luck next week and please win it all.

But if you think moving him around a little will stop him, good luck.

If JMU can bring consistent pressure up the middle and get one of the ends around the edge without blitzing more than 1 backer then they will be able to slow us down. I just don't see that happening without one of the top 10 or so DL's in the country.

If they can contain our front 4 on the pass rush then we will be in for a long day defensively. It's just hard for me to see how a freshman tackle without somebody helping him EVERY play will be able to withstand PJ or any of the other 3 ends. I think our pass rush hits home alot tonight and if we can contain Schor running with a spy and not have to blitz much we can slow them down too. If they were/are full strength on the OLine i will not be as confident in that scenario.

If we hold off the JMU DL and they have to try to blitz to get pressure and our DL can get pressure without us blitzing too much we win big.

Flip those scenarios and they win big.

Split those and its a shootout.

Was supposed to attend a wedding, but there's like 300 people invited to this thing so....I said we'll see you at the pub.

This is my I'm a solid maybe for the championship game on the 7th in Frisco

I'd still go. There's been reasonably priced tickets the day of every year. It may be a little bit more interesting with the fewer seats, tho. I still think they'll be reasonable tho, since many NDSU fans won't travel that far without tickets. Worst case scenario you strike out and watch it across the street at the bar.

I am still not certain that Briscoe will play. I can see Keeler throwing this smokescreen to force the JMU staff to prepare for two very different QBs. Just the visual of how he was favoring that arm when he took the hit makes me question that he could actually be 100% ready. I hope he is because we will have to go score for score with the Dukes. If he is not, our run game will have to carry us. We are averaging 184 yards per game rushing, so it is possible. Actually, I hope we try to run the ball more than usual anyway in order to keep Schor on the sidelines.
