5 wins? I'll take that for a start. The trick here is to think about how well to match up my picks here to those I made in the whole tournament bracket. No sense panicking just because 1 or 2 (or 3) results didn't go my way. To Round 2...

Youngstown State at Jacksonville State Jacksonville State I would start with this one I'm less confident on. Penguins eventually put away Samford, though I thought they would do so sooner. Gamecocks have suddenly become a playoff fixture, though looking through both schedules, I'm not sure if any of them really has a great win. JSU over Coastal, I guess? Let's take the home team.

New Hampshire at James Madison James Madison Speaking of regular mistakes, I was very wrong about this one. Big performance from the Wildcats sets up a CAA showdown with JMU. The Dukes won a wild one up in Durham a few weeks ago, but get the rematch at home. After Cal Poly's experience, I'm hesitant about revenge games, but I'll stick with the team getting home field.

Chattanooga at Sam Houston State Sam Houston State Both teams have had solid seasons, losing only to their best competition. Okay that was only Chattanooga, but still. Uncertainties surrounding the Bearkats' schedule remain, but UCA's win does make them look better. I'll take KC Keeler in a playoff game.

Villanova at South Dakota State South Dakota State This is a tough one, not because the Bunnies are soft, but Nova is very dangerous. I took SDSU first because the Wildcats' offense has disappeared in some of their big games this season, while the Jacks have always been able to put up points.

San Diego at North Dakota State North Dakota State Congrats to the Toreros on the PFL's first playoff win. I hope their flight into Fargo goes without delay, the meals at the hotel are rich and filling, and that they put some points on the board to tell everyone how they scored on the team that beat Iowa.

Central Arkansas at Eastern Washington Eastern Washington Well done Bears on defending home field and the SLC's honor in Round 1. Your reward is a trip out to the west coast (one technicolor field for another). Quite a haul for a team that didn't play a road game outside of Arkansas and its neighboring states. Oh, EWU is pretty good too. Should be fun, but I like the Eagles here.

Richmond at North Dakota North Dakota UND has rebounded nicely after their 0-2 start, and makes their first appearance in the playoffs as a D-I team. Richmond is a dangerous opponent, but I would feel more confident in the Spiders if they weren't already injury-riddled. Another facet: Stony Brook is a common opponent for both, and both took an L out on Long Island, but the Spiders' defeat was a blowout.

Wofford at The Citadel The Citadel Another rematch, this time two of the SoCon's best in a South Carolina showdown, a little more than a month after the Bulldogs' OT victory in Spartanburg. I almost took the Terriers in a revenge victory, and such a result wouldn't surprise me, but I'll take the hosts in this dogfight.

The flightless birds have a real shot to win, and I hope they do, but I just feel that the home field advantage will be a little bit too much to overcome. The atmosphere certainly shouldn't phase them having played in Fargo and Brookings in front of some big crowds, but i think their offense is just too anemic for them to overcome.


JMU

New Hampshire looked great against Lehigh, but I think that was more of Lehigh reminding us why the PL gets looked down on. JMU by a TD.

SHSU

I don't think Chatty is great, they didn't get a seed for a reason, and they haven't had to face a high flying offense this season. SHSU wins by a score or two.

SDSU

This game goes one of two ways. Either its tight to the end and I'm nervous the entire time, or its a SDSU route. I highly doubt the second one, so I'm hoping SDSU wins a close one. Jacks by 3 or less.

NDSU

In their warm up scrimmage the Bison roll by a lot. This is really the type of draw the number one see should have for their first game TBH, so I'm not complaining. Sure would have been nice as a SDSU fan for them to come in facing the bison after a physical game against a triple option team instead of facing them after a route they got to play backups in to get playoff experience. Bison roll by 30.

EWU

The Bears got by the deadbirds with a late push, that won't work to start slow against the high octane Eagles. This one could end up like the SHSu game if UCA does their normal sleep walk until the second half routine. EWU by 14.

UND

Just because it is a long distance for Richmond to travel to the frozen plains, and with it being the first playoff game, at home for the FHawks it should be pretty noisy in there. I think it will be a close game but UND manages to squeak it out.

El Cid

Well, another marvelous piece of regionalization strikes and matches up two teams from the same conference in the second round. Would it have been that big of a deal to flip the Richmond matchup with the Wofford game? Oh well I guess. I'll go with homefield as the difference in a squeaker.

Tough defense vs tough defense. JSU will have the home crowd as a difference maker, but the YSU offense is currently peaking, and will allow them to pull out a narrow victory.

New Hampshire at James Madison

JMU proves too much offense in the second half for the cats. UNH has made a great run of consecutive playoff appearances, but seem to always come up short.

Chattanooga at Sam Houston State

For those that like points, this will be an instant classic. Turnovers will be the deciding factor in this one. It could go either way, but I'll lean towards SHSU to commit fewer major mistakes.

Villanova at South Dakota State

What a terrific out of conference matchup! Villanova has a solid defense and decent offense that leans heavy on the run. While they play a much different defensive set than NDSU, their style of play is similar. As always, football is about matchups. SDSU will an exceptional passing offense, mediocre run game and mediocre defense (both run and pass). Villanova will get pressure and create plenty of disruption, but I don't think it it will make up for several down field plays they will give up. The other side of the field is where this game will be won/lost. If the left hander can make consistent plays against a suspect Jacks secondary, then Villanova can take this game. I'm leaning towards a few too many mistakes on the road, with the game decided late in the 4th.

San Diego at North Dakota State

Interesting matchup, but USD will wear down in the 2nd half, making Bison fans happy to see the 2nd half playoff form of old show up at just the right time. Bison run for 300+

Central Arkansas at Eastern Washington

Another close game, but Undies run game is too much for Richmond sporting a true freshman QB.

Wofford at The Citadel

One of the few upsets of the 2nd round, Wofford does a better job of shutting down the run than The Citadel does in this low scoring affair.

Printed it out on my dot-matrix, and had it telegraphed it to someone with a computer and the Internets who posted it on AGS me. Times New Roman is for wussies.
