Clay Hendrix, who has coached the OL at Furman for the past two decades has become the OL coach at Air Force Academy. Hendrix's OLs have been consistently strong at FU and among the best in FCS. A real loss for the Paladins.

I'm shocked at this move. Hendrix and Lamb have long cemented their legacies at Furman so this one leaves me scratching my head. Best of luck to him.

GO CATAMOUNTS!!!

I hate to see him go.
The Offensive line has been Furman's most consistently strong positions

We just lost our RB coach to the new Idaho staff. It's hard to fault these guys as they usually double their salaries. The Idaho OC makes the same as our Head Coach for base salary. There is a good chance Hendrix doubled his salary.

I think it's a tribute to FU that he stayed as long as he did- I'm sure he's had other offers before now.

Yeah. It was inevitable he would move up and it's lucky he stayed as long as he did.

Money or not it's a shock that he would leave after being at Furman for 20 years.

It is a shock that he left simply because he had been there so long. Why would a coach be different from a VP of distribution, Do we think assistant coaches are not subject to economic wants and desires.

On top of that, he said that Air Force gives him the opportunity to work with kids similar to those he worked with at Furman, and it has a similar family atmosphere.

I think he left because the money AND the circumstances were right. That doesn't happen often.
