Considering the 13 televised games are announced January 29th with network assignments given out Feb 5th, I'm assuming Jan 29th is the date...

SHSU and NWST are representing the good ole SLC!

From the Patriot League, Bucknell will be at home (in return for their trip to UNI last year), while Colgate and Holy Cross will be on the road.

I agree with HC getting a game... but COLGATE?! They are awful this year, and had low prospects of being good anyhow. Who selects this?

The entire MVC is participating.

UNI is a road team this year, so hopefully we get paired with someone with a good RPI so that the game is worth something...

SIU has an away game this year.

The pairings should be announced in the next week or so. The talks out of the Valley is that the highest team in the standings, that has an away BracketBuster game, will have to go to Butler (they have a home game).

VCU is home for bracketbusters weekend, but I don't know who they'll be playing.

I wouldn't say our prospects were that bad. We were voted #5 in the Preseason Poll (higher than Lafayette, I might add  :p ;) ). Given that beyond Bucknell and HC, there weren't that many attractive choices for the League. I'd bet this is just our AD lobbying ESPN and others for the spot. Improving BBall is (supposedly) one of his priorities. We'll see how that works out...

The OVC is participating with Morehead hosting a game this season. I think televised games go to the better teams

my understanding is that based on the PLs contract with ESPN, all PL teams are eligible for the BB. if correct, I asume each team had the option of electing in or out. this contract applies to the current year and next year, so Laf could be in next year.

I wish the MVC would get out of it.

Why do you say that?

Some say that the BracketBuster has a negative effect on Valley teams. Usually the Valley teams will end up having a lower RPI at the end of the year because of this game.

Some Valley fans want something along the lines of a "Valley Challenge" where only the very top of teams from certain mid-major conferences and some teams on the tourney bubble from BCS conferences would play teams from the Valley.

Im kinda on the fence about the Valley teams no longer playing these games. But I do like the fact that these games provide a means to play different schools that dont normally play and it makes scheduling less hectic.

Yeah, only the teams at the top of Valley benefit from it. For some teams, even if they win their RPI and SOS will fall because of it.
