Uh oh. Another letdown in Harvard's athletic reputation that all started a few seasons ago with the extension of the academic cheating scandal affecting the men's basketball team... xeyebrowx xsmhx
Are they going to forfeit the remaining games by default?
Here is the Crimson student newspaper's take:
http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2016/11/4/soccer-suspended-scouting-report-harvard/
Unfortunately, as of the Ivy standings at present, Harvard leads the Ivy race. We're going to give it away to either Columbia or Dartmouth. xsmhx

As for Scalise, he has done more than enough damage to let Harvard's athletic reputation tank to a new low... he has to go.

LOL...glad they have a " hit it" scale at Harvard. This punishment is absurd.
Hopefully they don't walk into a frat and find the "wall of fame"....

Has there ever been a culture anywhere on earth where members of one sex didn't at least informally rate members of the opposite sex? Men have historically rated women based on looks and women use looks and other criteria such as wealth to rate the attractiveness of men. It happens. It's biology. Its in our DNA.

Isn't this the same school where Facebook was developed ... for essentially the same purpose?
Maybe they can begin fielding eunuch teams .. the Harvard Unsullied.

This just in: College kids are still college kids.
When I start seeing womens teams suspended for similar reasons, then I'll start to consider this type of stuff more than a PC witch hunt.

Women's teams may or may not do the same things. If one of them gets caught, we will see what happens.
As for forfeiting games already played (and Harvard beat Dartmouth 1-0 last weekend), I suspect that the past results will be retained. Sucks for teams Harvard already beat, but them's the breaks. No different from losing to a team before said team's star player got injured.

I coached both boys and girls sports in high school. Yes, girls do rate guys. Do they post it online- hard to say, I don't go looking for it. When I hear female teachers say that they would love to break the bed like in the Twilight movie I figure that is their opinion- I'm not going to watch the movie to see what they are excited about.
I've never been in favor of group punishment. Did they all do it? If so, punish them all. If you have less than eleven players left, then forfeit. Otherwise, punish the guilty. I've been on the wrong end of group punishments and I didn't learn a damn thing from it other than I got screwed for what someone else did.
The Duke lacrosse team comes to mind. Bunch of entitled spoiled rich kids who were easy to blame. The problem was- they weren't guilty. And the vast majority of the team AND the coaching staff weren't either. But they dropped the program.

Yeah, we did that in high school one year and whatever boy genius was holding on to the book, somehow let it get out and there were some pretty unhappy girls for a while, but no one went to the administration or anything like that. Of course, the internet was becoming big at the time, but there weren't the social media aspects of it, no Myspace or Facebook or anything, we were hyped over AIM and chat rooms. Pretty much every guy in my graduating class was without a date that Friday night though, so that was the last time that happened.

Pretty much. Young and dumb, one guy in the crowd gets an idea and a bunch of others think it's funny to follow along. Oh well, if that's the most objectionable thing that I ever do, I think I'll make out okay.

The cross country team went more high tech.
Maybe these guys need to move far enough south so that they can tell what women look like without requiring a spreadsheet.

They can just use the apology ostensibly written by the men's soccer players (although I seriously, seriously, seriously doubt any of them wrote it).

Drew Gilpin Faust, a mediocre scholar and an avatar of the rampant PC culture at Harvard, is the worst Harvard president ever. First, athletes and scholars who happen to belong to final clubs get shafted, and now this. I haven't given the school a dime since that shrew took office. Maybe Hillary will put Faust in her cabinet and get her the hell out of Cambridge.

Are spreadsheets a Harvard thing?
Do guys walk around saying, "Do you think she's hot?" and their buddies pull out their laptops to compare Sagarin and Massey ratings?
Are there bombshell revelations coming from the Chemistry Department?

Thanks to the amateur Miss Harvard Soccer judges, Dartmouth goes to the NCAA tournament as the Ivy champion and beats St. Francis in the opening round.

I agree. I'd had for them to miss out on the playoffs. :D
Seriously, Minnesota is in a shytstorm right now. Football team says that they will boycott their Dec. 27 th unless the ten players who were suspended get reinstated. They are meeting with some of the regents today. The president said that he, the AD and the head coach made the decision but that was bogus.
People aren't very happy with the president right now because he buried a decision to rename the Pavilion where the volleyball team plays for the former AD. He hired Tim Brewster, who was the best coach that any opponent could have played against. There was a plan to sell the name of the place for some big money but that takes care of that.
