NEC – Week 10
Duquesne at Wagner (+5.5)
Robert Morris at Bryant (-10.5)
Sacred Heart at Central Connecticut (+7.5)
All three games are 12:00 noon kickoffs
Wagner looks to keep its playoff hopes alive with a win against the Dukes. Both teams are 2-1 in the Conference and if Wagner can win its last three, it can claim the automatic bid in a tie-breaker with StFU. Meanwhile, StFU will be rooting hard for Duquesne, as a win by the Dukes this week, coupled with a StFU victory against CCSU in Week 11 and StFU would be going to the playoffs.
RMU picked up its first conference win of the year last week and is looking for another late season victory against Bryant. Last year RMU defeated the Bulldogs in the last game of the season in what a lot of people thought was a positive sign for the Colonials heading into 2016. Bryant has played well the last two weeks, beating Wagner and falling at Duquesne by 4 last week, so this looks to be another tough game for RMU.
Sacred Heart was tied with StFU at 17 midway through the 3rd quarter when the wheels fell off and they saw their NEC title hopes fade. It will be interesting to see if there is a letdown and if CCSU can pick up their first NEC win of the season.
Last Week 3-1; Overall 33-13

Duquesne ends Wagner's playoff hopes

SHU playing for pride but I'm worried about a letdown

Duquesne in a shootout overlooking the Verrazano Bridge
Bryant will struggle at first and pull away late as Bobby Mo continues to search for offense
Sacred Heart - they spit the bit last week in disappointing fashion on both sides of the ball. Hopefully there is no letdown, if there are signs of let down play the twos and let them gain experience, the playoffs are out of reach at the moment so build for the future

RMU @ Bryant: RMU is 0-4 @Bryant. When the 2010 team lost at Bryant. Bryant will remember that end of the season let down against RMU in 2015. It will be a close game but RMU will finish 0-6 on the road this seaon. 30-21
Duquesne @ Wagner: I have expected more from the Dukes this season. SFU need the Dukes to win but Wagner keeps the dream alive at home. 24-20
Sacred Heart @ CCSU: CCSU is not a bad team but they just can't out of their own way durting games. They have talent and might be a year away from competing in the NEC. SHU whips up on CCSU.
34-13

That what a lot of CCSU fans like me want to think, but we are in our 3rd season under a new coach and he's just 4-11 vs. NEC opponents. I also think we have some talent, but we make way too many mistakes and penalties. This was all supposed to be "fixed" when Ross brought in "his guys" after our previous coach ended his tenure with 3 losing seasons and supposedly lost the locker room with a bunch of bad attitude player.
Honestly, I don't know what to think - we've got to stay competitive this season and show signs of improvement. But if we can't win the NEC AQ in the next 2 seasons, we need to get another head coach. On the positive side, at least some people can see the potential we have with a 1-7 team.

We started looking at the NEC in 2017 over at ColonialsCorner.com
Here is what I put together for CCSU
Returning Offensive Starters (8)Returning Defensive Starters (7)
Returning Specialists (1)
Biggest Lost from 2016: DE Asia Bolling
Top Returner from 2016: QB Jacob Dolegala
CCSU wins the NEC if: Can CCSU protect Dolegala with replacing 3 OL. They bring back everyone else on offense. Should put up big numbers but need more help from their D in stopping teams.

I could see the Red Flash losing to CCSU, a few years ago we had the chance for a winning season and choked against CCSU at home.
The Coach better have our guys ready to play.

CCSU isn't as bad as their record, but I don't like our odds after a really long bus trip to Loretto. SFU has some real talent at the skills positions, which they have generally lacked in the past. They are on the verge of the playoffs, so I just don't see a letdown. If we couldn't take care of RMU last week, what makes you think we will fair any better vs. SFU?
Yes, if CCSU can hold onto the ball and force turnovers, we could leave with a win. For some reason, we are better on the road and the win this week is definitely a step in the right direction. But this is your game to loose - I have no expectations of a win.
