Basically going with the home teams. I think Towson is better than Delaware having watched both yesterday.
UNH/Stony Brook is the only other one that's basically a coin flip. Should be low scoring -- neither offense seems great, both defense's look good (UNH D shutout Towson).

Maine/WM is an interesting game along with SB/unh.
Is Maine for real? They can continue to state their playoff case vs WM. Put a fork in Albany. They're done.
SB either remains undefeated and proves they really are a CAA force this year, or unh continues to fight for a 13th straight playoff appearance.

Elon 14 @ #22 Albany 28- 12 PM - Albany has a couple of winnable games in a row (I consider the UNH game very winnable). Gets back on the winning track after getting slapped around by the upper echelon of the CAA
#21 Stony Brook 17 @ New Hampshire 13 - 12 PM - This will be a very boring game to watch. Both offenses are completely anemic. Both Defenses can stop the run. Prepare for a yawner between two teams that are still fighting for a playoff spot that neither really deserves....
Maine 28 @ William & Mary 24 - 3:30 PM - CAA.tv Maine wins a hard fought game and continues to work towards a successful season
Rhode Island 21 @ #6 James Madison 44 -3:30 PM - CAA.tv No comment needed here. Although URI has shown some fight in the last coupe of weeks.
Towson 24 @ Delaware 10- 3:30 PM Watching the Stony Brook game gave me the impression that UDel has packed it in for the season.

I don't think objectively you can say Albany is done at 4-3. They play Elon & Delaware at home then @UNH and Stony Brook. I doubt they run the table to 8-3, but it's not impossible just improbable.

Albany is one of those teams that, IMO, needs 8-3 to get in. As much as I PERSONALLY don't think it matters, I think they're going to get penalized for four FCS losses even though they have the big FBS win. Could change, but that's my perspective if a bunch of teams are 7-4 and on the table for consideration. They definitely control their own fate, though, as they may be able to knock SBU and UNH out.
As an addition, the "Battle for NY" could be awesome in the final week. I know those two schools hate each other.

The schools don't hate each other. It's just that SUNY-Albany people easily forget that they're a middle rung SUNY school full of students rejected by Stony Brook and Geneseo and who despite having more than a century head start, has an athletics program that can only sit and watch as Stony Brook zooms by. Some Albany alum are nice people, though. Dim, but nice.

With no quality wins outside of Buffalo, they would need to finish 8-3 to get into the playoffs and that would include beating UNH and SB both.

I think it is entirely possible. Albany seems to have a much more balanced team when compared to UNH and Stony Brook who are both fundamentally flawed teams.

- Danes get rebound at home, would be closer if in North Carolina.
#20 Stony Brook @ #23 New Hampshire
- Both teams are similar, Wildcats get home edge.
Maine @ William & Mary
- Tribe keep sliding, Maine makes November more interesting.
Rhode Island @ #6 James Madison
- Dukes hit Rams harder than if Rhody decided to walk into a truck on 81
Towson @ Delaware
- Someone has to win, and Towson is the only one here to have 9+ loss seasons. Until this year.

Elon at Albany
#20 Stony Brook at #23 New Hampshire - A toss-up but my head says that SB is slightly more impressive than UNH right now.
Maine at William & Mary - Also a toss-up but I just think WM might have a little more fight in them left and Maine's offense isn't exactly world beating.
Rhode Island at #6 James Madison
Towson at Delaware - It's the battle for the bottom of the CAA. Who wants it more? I say the Blue Hens find a way to blow it somehow.

Now this here is hilarious...Stony Brook zooming by UA. You haven't sniffed the commissioner cup in forever as you are continually dominated by UA. Your basketball program is the gum at the bottom of our collective shoe considering we've smacked you around for years when it mattered and have 5 NCAA trips to your 1. No one knows SBU athletics outside of Long Island, no one certainly cares about SBU athletics outside of Long Island.
You claim to be bright as apposed to "dim" UA fans and yet one would think you'd know who runs the AE and it's not SBU. If you'd like, we can compare the accomplishments of the two athletic programs...hint, it won't go well for you.
Just in case you forgot...GOOD NIGHT! This is you, the SBU program and this will always be you...looking up at our greatness. *relatively speaking as two Div 1 midgets stand toe to toe*

What kind of options did Ambrose have after 2013? He has to be second guessing his decision to stay (I know he's an alum). They weren't able to capitalize on the West years one bit.
just more evidence for the coach lovers that's it more about talent..

Glad to know we're splitting hairs over a whopping one conference win difference between the bottom teams in our conferences.

Depends. No offense to the Hens, but a coach like K.C. Keeler and in this case Ambrose need talent to win. Both have the same approach to building a team in that they rely on luring 1-A transfers to supplement deficiencies in recruiting and schematic know how. I'm sure you are quite familiar with Keeler's inability to make in-game adjustments or create effective schemes against good competition. All three times the Hens went to or won the National Championship their rosters were stocked with several key Division 1 transfers. Ambrose has tried to make that same basic formula work at Towson. When they went to the National Championship a few years ago their roster was also heavily laden with transfers in key positions (especially on defense). Although this might produce immediate results and flash in the pan seasons from time to time, it isn't a healthy way to build a consistently strong program. You sacrifice development of recruited players by creating the looming specter of the possibility that at any moment all of their hard work will be for naught as their coach might simply replace them with a player from another team. The inverse of this approach is what you see at Villanova, UNH, and NDSU. These schools almost never bring in transfers or JUCO's. They recruit and develop their players to fit their scheme and they rely on the creation of a very specific culture within their programs. Even in the case of King Frazier, NDSU took him as a freshman. Due to the national prominence of NDSU and Villanova, upper echelon recruits are willing to play for coaches like Talley. As a result these programs are consistently good, and always have the talent, scheme, and coaching to allow them to compete for and win national championships. UNH, does not have the National acclaim that NDSU and 'Nova do. Usually the kids we get are not of the same caliber of our rival schools. I actually think that if UNH wants to compete for national championships we should welcome select transfers and JUCO players to provide a boost to our talent disparity. Either way, UNH has been winning with less talent for decades. Sometimes coaching, culture, and scheme are more important.

Mr T, don't worry about offending any Hen fans, the coaching staff did that to us. Your points about Mr. Keeler have been debated on gohens for a decade now, I give K.C. Keeler all the credit in the world for recognizing it's more about talent, nothing worse than an average coach coaching average players, but mix talent into the recipe the coach looks better, which is why they recruit so hard... right?
Brock brought in Sean Devine as OC from UNH, our fans were excited to get a UNH guy, his first year he had talent and we finished 7-4, we proceeded to get worse each year as the talent eroded away, not even a UNH 'genius" could help and offense void of talent

Yeah I know Sean well. Good guy, high drive, dedicated. Not sure about his aptitude football wise. I do know he is smart though. Think he was as academic all American Colby. When I was at UNH he was a defensive line coach during our transitional years from Bowes to Mac. Those guys worked their asses off trying to keep the ship afloat up there during a couple of lean years and as a result it bred innovation through necessity. The best of the bunch in my humble opinion was a guy named Ryan Jones. He was a defensive backs coach that was about to be hired at the same position at Louisiana Tech when the Giants offered him a job as their lead scout. He's been there ever since. He was actually on the series making Giants which was pretty cool. Either way it is a shame that he never went back to coaching, he was a super knowledgeable guy and a very good teacher.

one of the most informative posts I've read on AGS ..... Great stuff..
What was really surprising, and I'm not trying to be a wise guy, was how UNH lost to Delaware last year, as did William and Mary, is scouting this bad in CAA Football? Didn't they realize that we had no hope of completing a forward pass? The head coaches of these 2 teams are well respected to say the least... but I lost some respect for them with those losses to Delaware....

Yeah I was at the UNH - UDel game last year. That team was really struggling at that point last year. Even though we made the playoffs we probably should have been left home. Delaware flat out dominated that game on the ground. Our defensive scheme has changed significantly since then, thank god!

they should of changed something at halftime...haha, anyway, what did they change going into this year? One of the things our fans want to see is more of a "down hill" aggressive style of Defense and less read and react...

I used the wrong word when I said Scheme. I should have said philosophy. I'll just cut and paste from what I posted over on the UNH board. Sorry it's so lengthy:
Just some basic observations from a scheme standpoint on defense. I still hate the 4-2-5. Yesterday with some of the end zone shots you could see quite clearly that we simply don't cover the A-gap which means that either the weak side 1-tech or the Mike linebacker has a two-gap responsibility. I can't believe that more opponents haven't exploited that weakness with iso, trap, power-g, or simple able blocking a dive play. On the bright side, Lyons has finally figured out how to defend the belly option read and counter action in the backfield and that is significant going forward. We have FINALLY gone from a squeeze team to a spill team and joined the 21st century in run defense. If you have been noticing over the course of the past three games, our defensive ends have been devastating against the run. By freeing them up from the traditional contain responsibilities they are free to pursue flat down the line and tackle the zone belly from behind (Happened at least 5 times yesterday). When teams have run counter and miss direction, rather than squeeze and contain (Which is exactly what the pulling blocker wants) the DE's are now being instructed to wrong arm the puller! This forces the back to bubble his course to the outside where the LB and Safety are waiting. There was no guessing yesterday as to who had the ball in Stony Brook's zone read scheme. The ends pursued and spilled and the LB's and Safeties read the flat zone steps of the offensive tackle as a down block which brings them immediately up to replace the crashing DE. This scheme, along with the unexpected dominance of Holt and Soznak at the 1 and 3-techs will makes us very difficult to run against going forward. The funny thing that I noticed is that of all of the players who have struggled with their run reads the last few weeks its actually been Casey DeAndrade. Last week and a couple of times yesterday Towson and Stony Brook lined up in slot formations where Casey replaced the Safety on the closed TE and he was late in reading the down block which should have brought him up the field. Against Towson it led to a long gain and yesterday it led to a couple of yards. Either way, this defense is getting legitimately good. We need to be more creative with our blitzes now that these young kids are picking up the base scheme. BTW all of these schemes and developments would transition quite nicely into a 3-4! We could get Cholette, Dean, and Kheul on the field at the same time and it would allow us to widen the two DE's out and make them more effective in their pass rush. All in all Lyons, who is a very good coach, has made some very good adjustments working within the established scheme and not reinventing the wheel. Maine and Albany will struggle to move the ball against us. Now if only the Offense could score some points this team would be flat out scary. Next year is going to be a lot of fun boys!
