Yes.

UND and NDSU would have to play. I think Lehigh would go to either SBU or YSU (both are under 400 miles), but SBU is significantly closer. I think San Diego would go to Montana, Western Illinois plays UCA, EIU goes to Chattanooga, Youngstown plays Wofford. The only games that would remain from their bracket would be Wagner @ Villanova and Tennessee State v Samford

4 SoCon teams and 3 OVC teams. Doubt it. This playoff bracket would have NDSU losing at least 2 more to go 8-3 or even 7-4. This would also have Montana losing at least 1-2 more to finish 9-2 to 8-3 (maybe lose to EWU but another one...doubt it). How would EWU go from potential 10-1 to a #4 with a win over a P5 school unless Montana or Cal Poly beats them. No Cal Poly even though they will finish 8-3?

If you didn't understand why the STATS poll is terrible, this playoff projection should help understand more. I honestly can't tell if this is a "if the season ended today" or how he projects the season to end. There are some big misses with both. Kind of surprised not to see UNI in there to be honest...

Wofford IMO won't get in if they don't beat one of Chatty and El Cid. If they lose both of those game they are 7-4 with one win being Mars Hill.

Samford still has to play Miss State and El Cid, and Western and Mercer are probably capable of sneaking up on anyone in the SoCon. They do have the win over UCA going for them, though.

Is JSU being the 5 seed even a possibility at this point? I feel like if we win out we are at minimum a 3 seed. If we drop a game in the OVC we likely won't be seeded IMO.

As my esteemed colleague pointed out, either we are 11-1 with our only loss being to LSU, and several decent wins...or we have an OVC loss and probably won't be seeded. A 5 seed is a virtual impossibility. Their 1 seed has a week as milk toast schedule, as lost to us by 50 in last year's playoffs. I still don't get the love being shown to SHSU.

With the Massey Composite rating showing 3 of the top 4 teams coming out of the Valley, I don't think you are going to see the Valley getting only one seed and that a number 8 at that. And, regional match ups are supposed to be less common this year;
