BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois quarterback Mitch Kimble led the 17th ranked to a 30-24 win on Saturday at Tennessee Tech.* On Sunday afternoon the junior signal caller was named to the Ohio Valley Conference co-Newcomer of the Week, his second such honor this season. * Kimble was 21-of-36 for 323 yards and two touchdowns as he helped the Panthers rally from a 17-3 deficit early in the second quarter.** Kimble opened the game 3-of-7 and threw an interception in the end zone on the Panthers opening drive.* He closed the game 18-of-29 as he tied his career high for passing yards.* Kimble added 23 yards on the ground on eight carries.* Kimble currently ranks 25th in the nation in touchdown passes with 11 despite missing two weeks this season to injury.* Kimble previously won the OVC Newcomer of the Week honor in week two when the Panthers came-from-behind to beat FBS member Miami (Ohio). * The Panthers return to action this Saturday hosting Murray State at 1 p.m. at O'Brien Field for EIU's annual homecoming game.** Tickets are available by calling 217-581-2106.**
