This game becomes a possible elimination game for the playoffs. Both teams are coming off losses. Loser may be on the outside looking in come Thanksgiving weekend.
Albany has lost last 2 while Villanova was shutout for the 1st time in 13 seasons.

Interesting trend. Teams that play Richmond are 0-6 in the week after playing Richmond - includes Albany yesterday. Will see if Nova can buck the trend.

Good question.

I think if Lehigh keeps winning, Villanova could get in at 7-4.

Villanova coach Andy Talley said QB Zach Bednarczyk suffered concussion vs. Richmond. Doesn't know if Bednarczyk will play vs. UAlbany.
Found this on my Twitter home page. Not sure who Mark Singelais is, but there is a huge drop off in talent at the QB position if Bednarczyk cannot play.

Villanova opens up as 10 point favorite over Albany. Over/under 38.
Sounds like a lot for a team whose starting QB was not in the last half of Richmond game.

Talley on his weekly radio show said "they will know more on Thursday" about Zach Bednarczyk's availability.

Was your backup's performance on Saturday an anomaly or no? He literally could not throw a ball accurately passed about 6-8 yards. Good runner, though.

He hasn't played enough to tell TBH. He's a redshirt frosh so I'm sure he had the jitters vs. Richmond. Hopefully having a week of preparation will help if he is indeed thrown into action. I would expect a conservative run oriented game plan & rely on the defense that kept Richmond to 13 points for 3 quarters.

You can beat Albany with the deep ball. Maine hit 5 or 6 down the sideline for 30+ yards.

I watched your game. Unfortunately for the 'Cats that is the part of the offense that they are least proficient.
I would think it's going to be a conservative game plan offensively as the 'Cats run the ball well & rely on the defense to set the tone. I'd be surprised if Nova has more than 15-20 passes attempted with the majority 10-15 yards.
It's homecoming, it's being touted as a day to honor Andy Talley, & the west endzone building is being dedicated (new lockerroom/offices/meeting rooms for football). The 'Cats will be coming onto the field for the 1st time ever from that new locker room & end zone!!
I suspect that Howie Long will be giving the team a pep talk on Friday night as he will be there as the strength & conditioning center is named after him.
Some are speculating a sold out stadium, but I'll take 10k.

Just did a search of the tickets for this game, South stands mostly sold except two sections at East end. North stands though...
I'd say looks like 6k sold (Idk how student tickets work), that weather could increase the empty seats though

Philadelphia Inquirer : With starter out, Villanova backup QB DaSilva must step up (http://www.philly.com/philly/columnists/mike_kern/20161020_Kern___Nova_s_new_facility_the_house_that _Talley_built.html) but they still won't say that Bednarczyk is definitely out

I would think you & all of us will have to wait for pregame warmups to get the definitive answer. I don't know why Coach Talley would announce it for you guys to game plan for him.

^^I guess Albany needs to prepare for both righties and lefties with accuracy problems.
That should make for a very, very difficult prep for the Danes.

Nova has some work to do, but I think they would welcome a playoff rematch. Have a score to settle.

I guess the total disregard of the opening part of the sentence "Nova has some work to do." Was lost on you?
Till Nova & the Arachnids meet again......
Here is a throw from that inaccurate lefty u may remember:

Ask the Tribe how the playoff rematches work out.
That said, I highly doubt it works out that way. Too many playoff teams south of us to pair us with geographically. The Cats would get paired with either JMU or a western team with no geographic pairing possibility. Perhaps the 1 or 0 dimension offense could catch somebody like that off guard.

You can boast for now. Hope the smug approach works for you.
34-106 yards on the ground & 218 yards passing from the Spiders offense & the fact this was a 2 score game to the final seconds doesn't exactly qualify as " The Greatest Show on Earth."
You had 1 TD & 3 FGs until Rocco showed how much class he has not taking a knee with 10 seconds left.
You guys won Saturday. Congrats.
I'm interested in Albany now.

Maine is a scrappy team that is trending upwards since losing to us. They're far from a gimme game if that is what you're expecting, especially if your offense is able to be shut out by ANY CAA opponent.

No doubt playing @ Maine isn't a gimme. Nova lost their starting QB early 2nd quarter & it definitely threw our offense into a problematic state. The 'Cats Defense ranks 5th in FCS for points allowed (16.2) & 6th yards allowed (273.9). Offense is 70th points scored (25.9) & 65th in yards per game (375.1). Probably just the opposite of JMU in those categories.
I wouldnt throw dirt on the Cats just yet. Similar to when some did it to Richmond after Stony Brook.

It's not a gimmie, but if we're going to make the playoffs we're going to need to beat them.

I mean, I'd love to have UD make up for 2013 with a win to keep Nova out. I think they get in at 7-4 if Lehigh wins the Patriot though.

Maybe, but I think the 'Cats would be holding their collective breathes during the playoff tv show if they are 7-4. There maybe a 6-5 Northern Iowa for 7-4 teams to worry about.

I read somewhere that the Danes' 2 starting WRs & safety are out. True?

True. Two Star Receivers (Zee Roberson and Brad Harris) and our Senior big hitting Safety, who broke his arm and is getting surgery. To be fair, Harris and Sakowski (Safety) have been out since the beginning of year and Holy Cross (respectfully).

No disrespect towards Albany, but besides a few late scores when the game was well in hand, I really didn't see anything offensively or defensively that stood out.
