Probably will be the closest game next weekend. What do yo think. I'm a biased Charger fan, but I think home-field will help and if we can establish LT and Gates we'll be fine.

Other games: Saints over Eagles, Bears over Seahawks, and Ravens over Colts

Your biggest problem will be Marty.

Jeff Garcia will finally play back to his Cleveland/Detroit form. Almost thre 4 picks yesterday

If Seattle had a healthy secondary I would like them against Chicago--they will be able to get after Grossman.

Don't write off Indy just yet. If they jump out like they are capable of, the ex-Browns will be in trouble. If the Colts O is rolling, Balt. will have to score 38 to beat them. Indy has the best O line in the NFL.

San Diegos defense is overrated.

20+ point games - 8

New England is a league best 7-1 on the road this season.

Bill Belichick has a history of tormenting 1st year QBs, Rivers wont be an exception

New England has one of the better run defenses in the NFL this season.

New England 30 San Diego 24

Don't like either time, but I like NE less. ;) xlolx

Gonna have to go with the Chargers as I'm tired of seeing that puke Brady and hearing about the "coaching genius" of Belichik.

Well when they hoist the 4th trophy in 6 years you will then hear not just that but also...

Tom Brady, GREATEST QUARTERBACK EVER

Bill Belichick, GREATEST COACH EVER

So the Pats torture Rivers, big deal, it's not as if he's been on fire these last few weeks anyway. The key to the Chargers is LDT and Merriman. Just contain those 2 and you'll win. Right, just contain 2 of the league's best players. We know Brady, like most QBs, doesn't play well with guys in his face. Merriman can do that. I'm picking San Diego

Don't for get abut Gates too. I'm thinking he'll be open all day. The Bolts have to be afraid of Reche Caldwell, oh wait that's when he played for the Chargers and we had to be afraid of him fumbleing...

New England wins. Brady is the best QB in the NFL, and he'll shred up the Bolts.

As a Phillip Rivers/Marty fan, I really want to see the Chargers win. Marty will become a Hall of Famer with a Super Bowl win. Remember, Rivers won MVP in every bowl game he was in. The Chargers are healthier ,rested, and don't have to make the 3,000 mile trek. Still, it'll be close 27-24 Chargers in OT.

I'm a little biased as a Pats fan but i really think NE will win. San Diego's homefield advantage is marginal at best. Their biggest advantage is having a bye week to prepare for this game. NE had the second best scoring defense in the NFL this year and their front 3 of Seymour, Wilfork and Warren is arguably the best in the league. They are the key to NE's success because while the Pats LB's are very smart they are not quick and LT could/will exploit them if he gets into the second and third level too many times. Still at the end of the day NE is the more balanced team IMO. They have a great two headed monster at RB, a great Oline, a capable WR group with solid TE's and of course Tom Brady. As long as Belichek can scheme around their lack of speed on Defense they'll win, which given his track record he will.

yup and who needs #4 when Gostkowski is 6 for 6 in the playoffs with a team playoff record 50 yarder today :D

What a game! Brady is amazing.

I feel bad for Marty and the Bolts. Yet another fine regular season followed by an early playoff exit for a Schottenheimer coached team. He should never have challenged that play in the 4th quarter. That extra timeout could've been the difference in the outcome of the game.

Well, the top two seeds in the AFC are out and what do we have next? Another classic Pats/Cots playoff game. Should be another good one!

I feel no pity for any team that runs there mouths and goes into a game thinking there the greatest thing in the world and that the other team has no chance.

It will be very ironic/poetic if Vinatieri kicks the winning field goal for the Colts against the Pats.

It will only be ironic is Gostkowski would miss one late in the game and Vinateri nails his to win it at the end. Otherwise Gostkowski has been fantastic as a rookie kicker. This game is going to be something special. Unfortunately we'll have to listen to the media build it up to naussiam all week.

I agree. I had no dog in the fight but watched and thought it was a classic example of losing a game by making critical mental errors. The three I'm thinking of most are the guy getting called for personal foul after New England had been stopped on third and long, the guy intercepting a pass and trying to run it back after the Patriots had been stopped on fourth down, and the guy who muffed the punt trying to pick the ball up and run with it instead of just falling on it.

Those three mental errors were totally avoidable. The personal foul and the decision intercept rather than just knocking down the ball led to 10 New England points. Right now I can't remember if the punt muff followed by pickup attempt led to a TD or a field goal. Either way that's 13 to 17 points in a 3 point game.

The first one speaks for itself. The second: I've always been told and always believed that on fourth down or on the last play of the game you just knock it straight down because that ends the play. The third is another "speaks for itself."

Worst of the three was the personal foul. Frankly, I don't think he hit the other guy. I think the other guy hit him instead. I think that if the official would've made the correct call it would've been unsportsmanlike conduct on the Charger and a personal foul on the Patriot for taking a shot in retaliation. But it's stupid for a player to even put the official in that situation. No way that should ever happen. Bottom line if the Charger would've just kept his mouth shut and got ready for the next play New England would've been punting the ball.

To me it looked like San Diego was definitely a better team physically but New England's players were a lot more poised and kept their heads better.

Ok everyone, after making my predictions (albeit with a little fandom involved) I should eat some crow on my Chargers. Here's a great article from Nick Canepa (San Diego Union Tribune on the blown game). :bawling:

Yep, dropped passes/interceptions, muffed punts, fumbles. How do you hold a team to around 50 yards rushing, pick off the QB 3 times and still lose? :bawling:

I agree. I feel horrible for the guy. It ain't his fault the players decided to start acting like jakazzes and headbutt people, drop passes like the football is covered in olive oil, and get cute on interception returns in traffic.

I happen to feel Schottenheimer is one of the greatest NFL coaches of all time, his players have let him down too many times (Cleveland twice, KC once and now this) at the most critical times.

If Marty isn't retained in SD, a cruel injustice will have occurred.

He really has had a lot of stuff happen over his career. Take those two losses his Browns had way back when to the Broncos in AFC championship games. In one, during "The Drive" that added to the Elway hype, Elway hit a Cleveland defender right in the hands for what should've been an easy interception. But the guy dropped it and the Broncos went on to score and win the game.

In the other one, he had Byner fumble the ball as he was about to cross the goal line.

I mean...the guy has really had some weird things happen to him that he has had no direct control over.
